Bench by the Sea

A man once sat with me, on a bench by the sea.

Why do you look so miffed, sir?

"Gender this, Gender that. Everyone's just trying to be different you see."

Oh? I respond, as the waves crash onto the shore.

But are we really that different?

"What are you getting at, young lass?"

Well, we're not as different as you think.

Sure, we may appear like opposites

From our eyes to our flair, even the looks of our hair

But at the end of the day, don't we breathe the same air?

No two people are entirely the same

If we all were, it might've driven us insane

From cisgender to agender, and those in-between

All should be heard; and all should be seen.

a/n: I actually submitted this as my entry for an anti gender discrimination event, and I won 2nd place :DD
