Chapter 20:: Mai Nagase vs Himawari Hyuuga

Okay, no author usually does the scene where they fight the genjutsu guys and gets the scroll, so basically what happens is They realize it is a genjutsu. Then Naruto makes his shadow clones look like his teammates. When the 'team' looks tired from fighting Kabuto, Sasuke, Himawari, and Sakura ambush them and take their scroll.

Himwari's pov.

"Finally!" I groaned opening the door to the big red tower. "That took forever."

"Calm down Hima. We here now." Sakura responded walking towards the middle of the room with Sasuke leaning on her.

"Nobody's here." Naruto looked around saying.

On the wall in front of us was a board. It said 'If you do not possess Heaven, gain knowledge and be prepared. If you do not possess Earth, run through the fields and seek Strength. If you open both Heaven and Earth scrolls, dangerous paths turn into safe paths.'

Of course, Naruto was confused. According to this he should seek Heaven, or Knowledge. Sakura need strength, so Earth. I suppose Sasuke and I are pretty balanced.

In the end, then four of us decided to open the scrolls. Sakura and Naruto opened them. Inside it said "person" and "Jin". Summoning!

"This is a summoning inscription!" Sasuke yelled. "Naruto, Sakura, let go of those scrolls!"

"Ok." They agreed chucking them away. Luckily, them crossed each other. In the smoke appeared Iruka-sensei.

"Long time no see." He greeted them, or us. I'm not sure exactly.

"What's going on?" Sakura questioned.

"Looks like the four of you went through a lot of trouble." Iruka replied not answering Sakura's question. "Oh Himawari. I heard you came back."

"Yeah. Nice to see you again, Iruka-sensei." I greeted unsure of saying sensei.

"What? Why? Why did you appear through a summoning technique, Iruka-sensei?" Naruto interrogated.

"We Chuunins are to welcome the Examinees at the end of the Second Exam. I was given the duty to pass the four of you a message by chance." Iruka told us.

Basically, he told us what I had figured out about the Heaven and Earth scrolls. He told us about the missing letter that meant Chuunin.

"First off, congratulations on passing the second Exam." The proctor, Anko, congratulated. She stopped talking for a while as the other Genin talked among themselves. I mostly hid my face from Hinata. She was looking around, mostly at Naruto. "We will now have an explanation of the Third Exam from Hokaga-sama. Everyone, listen well."

"The Third Exam will begin, but before the explanation, there's one thing I want to make clear to all of you. It's about the true purpose of the Exam." Gramps started saying. True purpose? "Why we do a joint Exam with all the allied nations. 'To maintain good relations with the allied nations and heighten the level of ninja' ... Do not let those reasons deceive you.

This 'exam' , so to speak, it... The epitome of a war between the allied nations. If we go back through history, the allied nation right now we're... Neighboring counties that have fought each other over and over again. To avoid wasting military power, those countries decided to choose a place to fight... That is the beginning of the Chuunin selection Exam.."

"Why do we have to do that?" Naruto inquired with a dum look on his face. (Actually quite funny) "We're not doing this to select Chuunins?"

"Yes, this Exam does examine those who are worthy of the title Chuunin. But, on the other hand, it's also a place where ninja fight and carry their country's dignity. In this third exam, feudal lords and famous people from various countries who may be potential clients are invited here as guests."

At this point I stopped listening. (Translation. author-chan isn't writing all of it.) That was, until he said there was going to be a Preliminary Exam. That is infuriating. Why should we have to do a preliminary? I guess there are lots of kids here.

Eventually, he asked us if we would like to quit. Kabuto, and three other kids did. Two were from the same as this white haired girl. She seemed to be glaring at me. No! It couldn't be, Chikako? Why would she be here? It seems she still hates me...

The match is one on one. The Match ends when one is unable to battle or surrenders. Or death. I wonder who I'll go against. Hopefully, not Gaara-kun.

Round one- Mai Nagase vs Himawari Hyuuga.

Oh No! Gramps... We forgot to tell him... oh crap! A lot of the people looked at me especially Hinata. She looked hurt and her eyes showed a few tears. Neji gave me a look. It was a look that said 'you need to talk to her.' I nod slightly at him.

"Please come forward Mai, Himawari." The third exam proctor, Hayate, commanded. Looking away from Hinata, I walked forward.

I got my first look at this Mai girl. She had green hair,and yellowish eyes. According to her headband, she was from the mist. Like me, she had a sword. Well, more of a two handed sword. Mine is a one handed katana. If she if from the mist I assume she can use Water style. That means I'll need to use Earth more in this battle otherwise she'll just use my water

"I won't lose to you Leaf girl." She called as we got ready to fight. She grabbed the handle of her sword.

"I don't plan on losing, and I don't plan on letting you win, Mist girl." I smirked resting my hand of the hilt my katana. My katana's name, I have finally decided, is Nadare. Nadare means Avalanche.

"Go!"

I immediately jumped back across the floor. Mai ran forward drawing her, obviously expecting this to be a sword battle. She had a surprised look when I let go of the hilt and started performing handsigns.

"Earth Release: Earth maze." I said quietly. Almost immediately, a bunch of rock walls rose from the ground in a maze formation. She was trapped in the maze. "Earth Release: Earth Clone"

"This won't keep me here!" She yelled from the left side. I sent the three clones into the maze towards her voice. I could hear her start smashing the walls.

"Go Himawari!" I heard Naruto yell. "You can do it!"

I don't respond. Doing that would reveal my position. Then Mai would just charge through towards me. I know Mai had the strength to just obliterate the maze. My clones memory came back, meaning they were destroyed. I got an idea. "Hidden mist Jutsu."

Mist covered the area making it impossible for anybody to see us. I activated my Byakugan. Just as I activated it the curse mark activated. I groaned in pain just as I heard yelling.

"Water release: Wave wave." She yelled. Her wave knocked down the last remaining walls. "That was annoying, and how does a Leaf ninja like you know the hidden mist Jutsu!"

"Oh, I was trained by Zabuza." I calmly replied making her hesitate for a second. In that second I ran forward through the mist with a kunai.

We kept blocking each other's attacks. It's getting irritating. Mai suddenly jumps up and tries to kick me. I grab her foot and slam her down. Before she could get out a hit her in the head with the butt of my katana. She was knocked unconscious immediately. I released the mist Jutsu just in time for them to see me win.

"Mai has been knocked unconscious *cough cough* so the Winner is Himawari Hyuuga." The proctor announced.

"Yeah Hima-chan!" Naruto cheered. "Though I couldn't really see anything..."

I jumped up to the railing to sit by Naruto and Sakura. Hinata was still staring at me. It was still filled with a that look of hurt, but now I saw another emotions, Anger. That surprised me. It wasn't a deep anger, but for Hinata to be mad. That's... Scary.
