Standing at the door of her brother's residence in Los Angeles's west side, Elite patiently waits for him to open the door. She holds his outfit for tonight that he asked her to alter. The door finally swings open and behind it is her younger sibling who looks disheveled.
"You don't look like someone who has a movie premiere tonight," she extends the garment bag as she walks into the Santa Monica beach house.
"I don't think I'm going. I feel like shit. I should've told you before you drove here." He opens the bag to look at the suit that he has no intentions of wearing tonight.
"What's wrong?"
Epic is three years younger than his sister. Ever since their parents died, he's all she has. That made them grow extremely close. They're all they can depend on without a doubt.
"I tried to do a hike on Runyon and I couldn't do it. My heart damn near went out. My breathing is so bad," he explains. You can hear the wheeziness in his voice as he talks right now.
This wasn't a new problem for Epic; he just hasn't found a solution for it. For awhile they said it was because of his sickle cell traits. They accepted that for awhile, but that's not it. There's a lot of people in the medical field who rather assume than find out what's really going on with a patient.
"Have you been back to the doctor?"
"No, they all keep telling me it's asthma and I know it's not. No doctor has given me a diagnosis that I think is right. My agent wanted me to audition for an action movie, and I can't do it. I can barely workout nowadays let alone train for those types of scenes."
"You need to go to the doctor," she states the obvious sitting on the couch.
He gives her a deadpan look. "You don't think I know that? I don't have health insurance right now. And I don't have the money to pay if it ends up being something serious. I can't even afford to live here anymore and I have three roommates."
Epic is the definition of a struggling actor right now.
"But if you keep putting it off it could turn into something more serious.."
