You clutched your small purse as you looked around, giving a nod to employee as you examined the newer robot models. You checked the tags on each of them and stared at the models available.

They aren't as expensive as I thought, you thought. Well, I guess it's because it's a second-hand store.

Technology had evolved rapidly- so rapidly that it seemed like pure magic. And the newest magic? Androids.

"Why are they so expensive... even here," you sighed, looking at your watch and shaking the glossy surface. The screen lit up, flickering a hologram of your savings. You have: $3,413. You glanced at the price tag. "That's almost all of my savings..."

"Oh, this one over here is on sale!" the employee said, appearing behind you and pushing you to another model. "It's a gen 138 model- a little old and used, but it's on sale!"

You inspected it, stalking around the humanoid with a skeptical eye. The model had light gray hair and closed eyes. Its body was very muscular; its pectorals jutting out slightly. His skin was a ghostly pale and his eyelashes and body hair were almost translucent.

"Why does it look like it's dead?"

"He's customizable!" they replied, handing you a piece of paper. "This is the manual. Are you interested?"

You circled it like a vulture, wondering if this was a smart investment. I need something that's durable... and if it's customizable... you looked at the slightly creased pamphlet with a raised eyebrow.

You glanced up at the lifeless robot, before staring at the price tag once again. As long as the I follow the manual, I'm as good as gold.

"I'll take this one," you said with a smile.

You lifted your wrist, your watch screen flashing a neon blue. The employee tapped her temple twice, eyes glowing the same color as your watch.

"Transaction complete! Your receipt has been sent on your watch." She handed you a small, thin tablet. "Here is the manual. Have a good day and enjoy your AI!"

You looked down to see the cover saying "YOUR GUIDE TO GEN 139!"

"Do you have a Gen 138 manual?" you asked in a dry tone, poking the tablet impatiently.

"The model was released three months after Gen 139. They're- basically the same thing."

"Uh... alright," you said. She went behind her counter and pulled out a small box. With a small click, the AI's eyes turned a milky white. Its fingers wiggled, testing its mechanical boundaries. Looking down at you, it stepped down from its podium.

"Thanks. Have a good one," you said, taking your new AI's hand as you shook your watch. "Storage." The screen flickered, before a blue rectangle glitched into existence. You put the useless manual inside and shook the screen closed.
