Ophelia's POV
(don't be a silent reader<3)

It's been a week since me and my friends went on a quick trip to see the sunset from the high mountains.

It was a great challenge for me to fight my fear of heights being there, but Arden's company helped me a lot.

Now it's almost the end of the week. I'm busy with college projects, and working at my part-time job, but it doesn't kill me as much as just spending my free time at home.

This is getting more and more intolerable to be early at home and see my mother going crazy every time something unfortunate happens.

As I have said before, I found the medicine in her bedroom weeks ago and it didn't give me peace since then. I'm more than sure that she's using it as escaping from her mental problems again.

I don't even know how she got this medicine again, but I'm scared that my mother is coming back to her past self. To the woman who was the reason for my father leaving her.

She would say that this medicine is making her nerve system work easier, letting her relax and sleep more peacefully at night.

All I know is that she was too far from looking or acting better. This medicine and her addiction to it made her ruin her own life.

She almost lost me and my brother at the court for my father, but then she promised to be treated and stop her addiction.

They believed her. I did too.

Before my parents finally divorced, me and Elijah were living with our father for months, waiting for mother to come back to her senses.

She did. She got us back and we started our life as a family of three.

Everything seemed to be better than I expected for us, but as I see now, it was all too good to be true.

My mother is back with her sick problems.

"Why would you do that?" my mother yells at Elijah, who accidentally broke one of the expensive vases bought by our mother a few years ago.

"I'm sorry, I didn't want that to happen" Elijah brushed off the tears from his little pale face. He seems to be scared.

I go down the stairs from the second floor of the house to be more clear about what just happened.

"Yeah, you always say that. You're just a stupid little kid who can't stop playing around without breaking something valuable" she continues yelling.

"Could you lower your voice? Don't you see he's scared" I say as I stood behind my brother.

Elijah is all shaking and crying, hardly catching his breath.

"It's not your business, Ophelia!" my mother's gaze moves to me. "Stop defending him every time he does something bad"

"Maybe breaking your vase was a mistake by him, but it doesn't make you right to yell at him this much. At the point when he's not even breathing properly from crying" I'm trying my best to talk to her calmly.

"And who makes you the right one to argue with your mother?" she screams at me.

Her eyes are full of anger and aggression. I'm not able to recognize my mother in this woman's body anymore.

It's just my mother's body, but the real her is not here. She's gone with help of her medicine.

"You could just tell him he did bad and he should be more careful in the future. Don't yell or use any physical force on him as you do for months now" I take a deep breath before continuing.
