Ophelia's POV
(don't be a silent reader<3)

⚠️ WARNING: this chapter has mentions of drugs, overdose & other triggering stuff!

I didn't expect this day to turn into inexplicable hell, but oh well, it did.

"Have you ever considered changing a job? I mean, we are not getting a lot of money out of this" Asra asks me as we are working at the cash register at the bookstore.

"Honestly, I did think of that, but I'm not in a bad need to get more money right now. Also, I love this place, so it would be hard to leave" I take a look at the receipt before I give it to our costumer.

"Have a nice day!" I say, smiling at the old lady, who just bought a ton of the new books we got this week.

"You too, young lady!" the woman says before leaving the bookstore.

"You're right. This place gives too much comfort to leave it for more money" Asra sighs. "I would better work at three jobs, as I already do, than leaving this" she points at the view in front of us, which is a bunch of shelves full of books.

"So are you having a shift tomorrow?" I ask.

"I have, in the afternoon"

"How cruel of them that they don't let you rest any bit" I pat her shoulder.

"It's not them, it's me. I asked to work more hours. After all I don't have anything else to do, just work hard and get that bag" Asra takes a cup of coffee into her hands and takes a sip.

We had a short break for coffee time half an hour ago, but Asra didn't finish her drink in time, so she took it with herself.

She says that she would never leave a full cup of coffee not finished. It's a crime for her.

"Did I mention before that I have a kitten at my dorm?" I change the topic, because this new fact of mine came into my mind.

"A kitten? Isn't it illegal to have a pet in the dorms?" Asra's eyebrows raises.

"Sadly, it is. But this little boy is too cute to be left on the streets" I say and take out my phone from my pants pocket, to show Asra the photo of my new pet.

"Oh my gosh, it's so cute!" she almost tears up when she sees my ginger kitten on my phone screen.

"We called it Winnie"

"Winnie? Such a nice name" Asra takes another look at the photo. "And who's "we"?" she questions.

"I mean, me and Arden found this kitten near the dorms. He helped me to come up with the name" I explain.

"Oh, I see... So is there anything new happening between you two" she raises her eyebrows.

"Honestly, I'm so excited every time I hear that I'll have a shift at the bookstore with you, because I'm so invested in your life updates that you give me" Asra confesses.

"Don't make fun of me" I give her a mad stare.

"I'm not. I'm genuinely interested" she convinces me.
