Allen POV

"Allen tell us what's going on." captain Danden responded making me confused as why she has Stevens radio.

"Ma'am I found human children we need help getting out, they have the door covered." I quickly tell her. As I wait for her response I look around the room spotting a window just big enough for the kids. I turn to them pointing towards the window moving towards it quietly so as not to alert the soldiers to us moving. "Now when you get out this window you need to find a way to get outside the walls." I tell them. I boost them up through it before they can argue with me, and get us caught.

"Allen we can give cover fire, and try to lure them to us." the captain tells me making me shake my head.

"Captain the kids are on their way to you. Keep an eye on the walls for them. To you, and the others I'm glad that I met you. This is private Tagert Allen signing off." I say as I drop the radio. I move to the door, and kick it open, and firing my rifle into the wall of soldiers in front of me. As they return fire I feel bullets tear into my arms, legs, and hit my chest. when they cease fire I'm bleeding out, but still alive on my knees trying to breath with shattered ribs.

The one who is the leader walked up to me with a smug grin like I'm a rare exotic prize she captured. "With you in custody we can begin running tests on you, and find out what kind of screams you make." she says with a chuckle. That's the last I see as she hits me on the back of the head knocking me out.

Danden POV

We lose contact with Allen shortly before hearing gunfire ring through the air from the base. Keeping our eye's open we see a group of small silhouettes climbing down the wall of the base. When they reach the ground they head for the tree line near our location. I motion for the team to move towards the children quietly. Upon reaching the children Betty checks them for injuries, and ask them what happened. Most of the answers are they don't know, except for one who said they held onto window sill the longest.

"The man that saved us couldn't get through the window so he fought them. Last I saw he was alive with the mean lady." the child said. 

"What mean lady?" I ask confused as to who it could be. 

"Shandra Fritz. She would come, and take one of us with her. A few hours later when they returned the other kids were different. Like they weren't there anymore just the shell of them." they stated. 'I hope Allen doesn't die in there, or I'm going to kill him.' I think to myself. 

"All right let's get these kids to base, and then we get pvt. Tagert back so I can kick his ass." I tell everyone. As we get to heading back grab sergeant Greenwater's shoulder stopping him in his tracks. "I want you to tell me why you didn't tell Allen to come to me for this mission?!" I ask pissed off. By this time Anna has got over to us from her spot only hearing my anger.

"One he was very insistent to go alone in there. Second he needed someone to cover him when he came back. That weight is on my shoulders captain not yours." he replied curtly. He then walked away without another word leaving me pissed. I turned to Anna already trying to plan a rescue for the fool human trapped in the base.

"Sergeant Brokers I need you to keep recon on the base. You let me know if anything moves, once we get to base I'll send someone to relieve you." I order, and she gives me a nod. With that I move to catch up with the rest of my unit that has gotten a good distance head start. 

Heading back to the base I'm left with a sense of loss at Tagert no longer here with us. I see one of the kids falling behind from the group so I pick them up so they don't fall further behind. " what's up kid?" I ask already suspecting the answer their going to give me.

"I hope the man that saved us is ok. We didn't think anyone was gonna save us from the mean lady." the kid says looking at the ground. This truly put a frown on my face fearing what that stupid Pvt. did may be his death.

(A/N: Hey guys sorry for the super long break. I lost inspiration to keep writing on this project for a while. So from now on I'm gonna try to keep working on this project, but I'm gonna work on other projects as well to try and keep thoughts fresh. Wish me luck hope you enjoy.)
