Allen POV

"May I have a private word with Mr. Greenwater?" I request. Captain Danden looks at skeptically, but gives a Curt nod. She quickly marches out the door leaving us alone. "Be honest with me mr. Greenwater. Any of this hold a sliver of truth?" I ask.

"Why ask me? You just met me recently." he retorts.

"Because I believe you hold a similar belief as me. In regards to the code of honor of soldiers." I state.

"To be honest with you kid. This don't smell right, and I don't mean the captain. If that team that you took out was truly after you. You may want to consider whatever she offers." he tells me with a straight face.

"You know for a furry you aren't too bad." I say with a chuckle.

"And neither are you for a bald ape." when he said that we bother chuckled.

"To be completely honest. Every fiber in my body is telling me to run, and never stop." I say barely above a whisper.

"Kid if someone else is gunning for your hide you need help." he offers.

"And what help would that be? The ones who for all I know slaughtered everyone, or maybe the ones who want me for God knows what. You, and Betty are the only ones who gave me a hand. Why? I don't know, but you did, and look what it got you. A fucked up house, and dead men in your backyard." I finish.

"And you know what else I got from it. To meet a fellow soldier who against all odds survived. One who lost everything, and now doesn't want to believe there's a chance. A chance he may not be alone, but fear holds him back. Not just any fear, but a fear that is carved into his head for years." he sighs sitting in a chair.

"If I was in your shoes I would be doing the same thing. I can't speak for those soldiers out there, but if want I'll help you." he offers staring me in the eyes.

"No. You need to help your daughter, and rebuild your home." I state.

"Yeah, but she needs to move out. Im forty-five years old, and I can't be there forever. So what do you say? Will you join an old man on a hunt for those bastards." he says smirking.

"Only if you promise me. Should this all go south you get your daughter, and run. I'm likely to die, but I don't want anymore to pay that price. Even if I used hate all of your kind." I state smirking back.

"I'll ignore the slight insult, but I agree. Now let's get you out of those ropes." he pulls out a knife. Once the bindings are cut I stand up rubbing my wrists. I stick out my hand to him, and he takes it. I grab the paper, and put it in my pocket. We walk out the front door, and see everyone lined up.

Their guns trained on me, and the sniper missing. Likely in the tree line watching the back. "Keep those guns aimed at me, and I'll change my mind." I state with a scoff.

"What do you choose private Tagert. Will you come along willingly, or do we need to drag you there?" the captain questions.

"He'll be coming along, and as will I." mr. Greenwater tells them. Their guns lower except for two of them.

"Dom, Rita stand down now." she orders.

Steven Greenwater POV

Once the guns are lowered Betty runs over. "Dad what are you doing?" she asks in disbelief.

"Doing the right thing, and don't you start."  I tell her.

"Start what? That you could get hurt, or worse killed. I know I didn't want Allen to die, but this is different." she pleads.

"I'm doing this, and it's time for you to learn to be on your own. I'm forty-five I won't be there for you forever. You need to find what makes you happy." I tell her with a sad smile.

"Fine if that's what you want then I guess I have no choice." she says while I nod. "But to join you, and join the military." when she says that I stop.

Veronica POV

I just turned around when I heard mr. Greenwater yell. "Absolutely not. I will not watch you put yourself in danger." at this I turn to him.

"Something wrong mr. Greenwater?" I ask.

"No nothing. Just my daughter being stubborn." he tells me.

"Actually ma'am is it possible to join with my father in aiding Allen?" she questions.

"If your father says no. Then no you couldn't join us, but you could talk to a recruiter. You won't join us, but you'll be helping the cause." I say quickly.

"And if he says yes then what role could I get." she pushes.

"What skills do you have?" I ask.

With a sigh mr. Greenwater answer's "patching up wounds." he points to Allen.

"You did that?" I ask her to which she nods. "Then how does medic sound. You'll help, but won't be in the line of fire." I tell her. She quickly agrees, and takes off to the house.

"Thank you for doing the best you could keeping out harm's way." he says. I nod my head, and whistle giving the signal to Anna.

We quickly round up, and I put Allen next me. We March in the back away from Rita, and Dom. We start heading towards the base, and start a conversation.

"So care to tell me what changed your mind to trust us?" I ask.

"I still don't trust you, but if mr. Greenwater says I can I trust him." Allen says curtly.

"If you don't trust us why mr. Greenwater?" I pry.

"Surely you have better things to do then talk to me." he states. I walk in silence for a bit asking myself. Why is mr. Greenwater helping him.
