In a gloomy night that screamed of horror, the residents of Mo village seemed to be more vigilant than ever as they didn't want to attract the attention of the evil and the impending doom.
Yet, the person who has been sitting in the middle of an ancient blood array drawn on the floor of a shabby little cottage in the back courtyard of the Mo residence, did not seem to mind attracting whoever villainous ghoul that haunts around the area. Rather, it appeared like he is actually trying to summon one at the cost of his own soul.
"My name is Mo Xuanyu. I will use my flesh as lure, in sacrifice for your spirit, my soul as compensation, to return to the earth. Here I summon the sinister ghoul, the Yiling Patriarch-" When his summoning is about to end, a warm breeze swept pass his bloody body as if to hug him back to sanity.
"Young child... Why would you want to summon Wei Wuxian at the cost of your own life?" Along with the breeze, a mellow voice echoed through the room, filling the gruesome surrounding with the sunny aura of a spring morning.
"W-who- who's there?" Despite possessing the courage to go through a soul summoning ritual, the boy still sounded scared out of his wits of the sudden question and the warm aura as he squinted his eyes as hard as he could to pin point the source of that mellow tone.
"Obviously I am the one you are trying to summon with this old ritual." The owner of the voice declared confidently. Yet, Mo Xuanyu found it very hard to believe.
'THE Yiling Patriarch- the one who is known as the epitome of evilness- having a mellow voice like a women? What nonsense is this?' He complained in his mind but didn't dare to make a sound further.
"Stupid human and their baseless words!!" The supposed Yiling Laozu complained softly, before making himself visible to the battered child in front of him.
"As you can see... I'm nothing like the rumors claimed me to be." He claimed calmly as Mo Xuanyu's mouth fell open in shock and disbelief.
"Y- you-" He tried to gather few words to utter a proper sentence as he took in the divine figure of the man in front of him yet he failed to do so.
The man or more accurately the young adult who appeared to be in his late teens or early twenties, stared at him with a pair of mesmerizing scarlet eyes which appeared as if the sun is permanently shining from within.
His raven black hair that had been put up in a half ponytail had been adorned with a exquisite head piece that looked like a crown and a beautiful red ribbon that matched with the color of his eyes as the other half of his hair swept pass his knees like a beautiful waterfall. Even though the lower half of his face had been hidden behind a thick veil, it didn't hinder his beauty from seeping through.
The crimson red inner robes and golden embroidered white outer robes which screamed of royalty, flutter smoothly with the light breeze that had been circulating in and around the room since his arrival as if they are unwilling to touch the bloody floor.
"Who- who are you?" Finally managing to find his voice again, Mo Xuanyu asked again, unable to take his eyes away from the ethereal beauty of that man.
"I am previously known as the Yiling Laozu, Wei Wuxian but now I am Hua Ying, Hua Wuxian. The ritual you tried to do, could only fail because I am obviously alive. However, since you were desperate enough to decide that it would be the only solution for your problem, I might be able help you." Hua Ying offered, softly gazing down at the miserable boy.
"Can you...?" He asked hopefully, looking up like a child who is asking for his mother's help.
"Yes, I can. Now, shall we move out? It's not safe here at the moment. The resentful energy around the area is so thick and seemed to be increasing further. With you looking like this and an array set up to summon ghouls, I'm afraid that the Mo family would have to go through an attack sooner or later within tonight." Offering his hand to the boy, Hua Ying commented off-handedly before vanishing into thin air along with the boy without a warning.

"No! The incantation should NOT attract something like this unless it is specifically thrown into the nearby area. Your summoning can only attract the evil beings who roamed around within five miles and not from a feet further!!" A young cultivator in a greenish-blue robe snapped at another in a white robe, who obviously looked annoyed at the outburst of the former.
"Is that the main problem here? Can't you just shut up and help suppress this shit?!" The white clad cultivator bit back, as the hand they were trying to suppress so hard fought against their restriction barriers.
"That's enough, both of you. Just concentrate on the task!" An older boy in black robes scolded them both, forcing the former two boys to shut up and concentrate.
"I wish mother was here..." The youngest among the group muttered longingly before pulling a beautifully carved silver dizi that had a delicate butterfly tassel hanging over at the end towards his lips.
Yet, before he could make any sound, a clear and well played notes of a dizi pierced through the gloomy night air, successfully forcing the hand to freeze in mid action and it didn't take much longer for that mysterious flute player to suppress the ghoul hand fully, allowing one of the white clad cultivators to secure it within a soul trapping pouch.
Then before anyone could gather their thoughts to look for their benefactor, a warm breeze passed through the courtyard, sweeping away the remaining resentment within the area.
It felt so calming and refreshing, yet the two masked boys- the one in the greenish-blue robes and the other who held the silver dizi felt chills running down their spines. They had a feeling that they are about to face something far more dangerous than the ghoul hand and their gut didn't lie.
"What the hell you two were thinking, coming out here without an elder?" A cold voice asked from behind them, scaring not only them but also the every other youngster at present.
"Step back!" The moment he sensed the danger, the boy in black tried to step between his cousins and the stranger, only to be stopped by his hard glare.
"What do you think you are doing, boy?! Leading your cousins out in a night hunt like this without adult supervision?" He snapped and to everyone's surprise the boy quickly retreated, sheathing his sword before doing a deep bow and his two cousins also seemed like they had also recovered from their initial shock as they too bend down for a deep bow.
"This careless disciple apologize from Tài Zǐ Diànxià. Please punish me accordingly." The boy in black apologized, nervously shifting under the man's glare.
"It's not his fault! It's me who wanted to join this night hunt with these lans and it's not like we came here unsupervised... Hanguang Jun also came along."
"Hanguang Jun?" Carefully looking at the grown up boy in front- the one who almost looked alike of the said hanguang jun, taizi dianxia wondered out loud, his voice giving off nothing about his inner turmoil.
"Yes- mother..."
