"Is Yima Li okay?" Shizui asked as the three of them wandered around the Lotus pier since the adults decided to take a break for a while before making plans to take down Jin GuangYao.
"Not exactly. When she heard about the news, she fainted on the spot and didn't wake up for a few hours. It was Yima Qing that finally managed to wake her. But the way a-niang started to cry the moment she opened her eyes, no one could do anything to stop that. I never saw her cry that much in my entire life. A-die said that the last time she cried, it was when Xian jiujiu died and it wasn't as bad as this time. Even your wài pó cried a river of tears before coming down here." At Feng Ling's explanation, both Shizui and Xuanyu frowned deeply, extremely worried about their mother and family.
"A-niang didn't even want to send me down here, far away from her eyesight. But when I practically begged her to let me come down with your grandparents because I really wanted to see around here, a-die convinced her to let me come. For her to be that much worried, I don't think this situation is something we should take lightly." Feng Ling added thoughtfully.
Hua Xuanyu's brows knitted at that as he asked, "You didn't know?"
"Know what?" Feng Ling asked, utterly confused by the question.
Hua Shizui, "Our a-niang was pregnant when that bastard captured him."
Feng Ling, "WHAT?! You are lying, right?!"
Hua Shizui sighed, "I'm not, unfortunately."
Feng Ling frowned, "No wonder all of them looked like headless chickens after Hua Chengzhu talked to them all, alone. Will jiujiu be okay?"
Hua Xuanyu, "We don't know. Wàigōng said that the fierce corpses we fought at burial mounds reeked of mother's essence. He thinks that that bastard somehow forced our mother to do his bidding. At what cost, we don't know."
Shizui released a deep sigh hearing that and averted his glance towards the lotus pond.
He had heard a lot of stories about his mother's childhood he spent here with his shidi and beloved shijie. His grandparents said that his mother used to be so carefree and laugh a lot more than he does now, before the war broke down and everything started to go downhill. They said that after his mother defected from the Yunmeng Jiang clan, he seemed to grow up a lot within a short span of time and never acted the same as before.
Even though he saw his mother fooling around his father like a three years old after they solved their misunderstandings, Shizui witnessed how his mother turned back into a cold and matured man with no joyous aura around him when he had to be away from his father-Lan WangJi. Thus he wished to have some closure to his mother's childhood here to see if he somehow could fix everything back to normal.
"Our mothers must've been so happy here... Everything looks so pretty and lively." Hua Shizui murmured nostalgically, earning the attention of the other two.
"I bet they had." Feng Ling smiled, his eyes looking up at the sky.
"I wonder if Jiang shushu is still angry with a-niang." Shizui wandered as they moved along the corridors, ignoring the curious eyes of the Jiang disciples who didn't dare to stop them from wandering around so freely. And seeing the way every one of them bowed down to them, they assumed that they must've received the news about who they are by now.
"According to a-niang, Jiang shushu's anger is hard to suppress. But she claims that he deeply cares about Xian jiujiu." Feng Ling replied, not sure about what exactly to think about his mother's words. After all, she is one of the kindest souls he had ever met besides his Xian jiujiu and Tiāndì. So she would never make other people look bad as long as they don't try to mess up with her family.
