"Sleeping in coffins?" I asked
"Myth" Arthit replied
"Scared of garlic?" I asked
"What?" He asked back, laughing right after
As much as I enjoyed the sound of his laugh, I wanted the answers to my questions and so I glared at him, not that it would scare him
"Sorry, myth" He replied, a smile lingering on his lips
"What about burning in the sun?" I asked, curious
"Well not exactly" He replied thoughtfully
"You do burn?" I asked, immediately checking if the sun was bright enough to harm him
"Oh no, we do not burn, it just stings, you know like if you sit for too long in fire like sunshine during a sun bath?" He asked, trying his very best to explain
I nodded in response, shuddering at the feeling, he mustn't go out in the sun then, maybe that was the reason he left early that day
"Do you have a family?" I asked, cautiously
He fell quiet for a second and I found him staring into nothing in particular before he softly smiled
"I had, a great one" He replied
"When did you, um.." my voice trailled off and I decided to just think the rest of it
Turn into a vampire?
"When I was nineteen, a couple of hundred years ago" He replied, suddenly falling down the memory lane
I simply nodded, not sure of what else to say or ask, it was weird, sitting here with him in the canteen and talking to him about his vampire life
Not once had I ever imagined for something like this to happen, it was just yesterday when I had stupidly confessed to him about how I couldn't get him off my mind
And here we are today, talking ever so casually and it was crazy to say that I loved this, I loved talking to him about something so unusual oh so usually
I turned back to him, ready to ask him something when I saw his hazel eyes shine and the corners of his lips lifted up, and I followed the direction of his sight
Jennie
"I need to change an answer" He mumbled
"Huh?" I turned to him confused
"The family one, I do have a family, she, is my family" He replied, his eyes fixed on her smiling figure
Something in my heart hurt, she was his family? That was how close they were? I saw how she practically hopped towards him and he greeted her with the warmest of his smiles
Her eyes fell on me and her smile slightly faded, she looked at him questioningly and they talked in eyes or maybe they could hear each other's thoughts as well
Five minutes of their silent conversation and she turned to me with a smile as well and forwarded her hand towards me, waiting for me to do the same
"Hey, I'm glad you listened to me" Jennie said, grinning
I smiled back at her, half heartedly but it counts, I tried my best
"You.." my voice trailled off, I didn't want to come out rude
Jennie raised an eyebrow at me, she surely couldn't hear my thoughts and so I turned to arthit, thinking loud enough for him to know
Is she not a human either?
"She, is complicated" Arthit chuckled, glancing at her
Jennie pouted cutely, she was the prettiest girl I had ever seen and only if I was interested in women, I would have had a crush on her instead
The bell rung declaring that it was time for the next class, it was the sports period and I hated it, any type of physical activity, I hated it
"It's time for my sports class now" I informed lowly
Arthit stood up with me, insisting on dropping me till the ground, although it was just a building away and I was completely capable of walking on my own
But who was I to deny to Arthit? And so I quietly agreed, we were about to leave the building when it began to rain, so suddenly yet so loudly
I stopped in my tracks, the rain pouring down made me anxious, arthit probably sensed it, the way he stopped right behind me and stared at the rain
"You don't like rain?" He asked softly
I shook my head, I had no matters with the rain, it just seemed to remind me of certain days I would never want to remember
"It just, yea I don't like it" I replied, that was easier than to explain
He looked at me as if he knew there was more than just that to it, but he wasnt pushing it and I was grateful
"Let's go home early today" He suggested
"But there's no sun" I reasoned out in a puzzled tone
"There is rain though" He replied, shrugging off his shoulders
I blinked a few times, it was the first time that I saw someone worry for me, asking me to escape instead of facing it head on
"Sometimes, it's important to escape, you can't always face everything head on" He smiled
And so we decided to head home, he lead me to his car and it was the prettiest thing I had ever seen, he noticed it as I stared at the car for a while
"It's one of my favorites" He stated
"You have more than just that?" I asked surprised
"I have a few more I guess" He replied, pretty unsure about the count
I stared at him in disbelief until he brought me out of my thoughts and asked me to sit inside and so I did
"What is your family like?" He suddenly asked
"It's just me and my mum, my dad, he left us a few years ago" I replied, gulping in the lump in my throat
He glanced at me for a second before turning back to the road, driving ever so swiftly
"You must miss him" He mumbled under his breath, secretly hoping that was the case
"He didn't give me reasons to" I replied, wanting to let go off the topic
It took us less than fifteen minutes to reach home and I suddenly didn't want to get off the car but again, I had to
"Don't overthink about anything, alright?" He suggested thoughtfully
I nodded at him, getting off, ready to walk away
"Kongpob!" I heard him call me
I turned around, and he stared at me mischievously with that smirk playing on his lips, what was he thinking?
"You know, Jennie?" He asked
I frowned, unintentionally and nodded
I saw him grin wider before speaking his next sentence
"There is nothing in between us, you do not have to worry your pretty little head"
It took me a minute to take it in and by the time I did, he had already driven away leaving me behind, all excited
I purple you 💜
