The days had flown by, and then suddenly before we both knew it, the day was finally here.
Harrison and I were seeing our parents for the first time as an engaged couple.
I was engaged to Harrison, and so far the people that accidently found out... well they didn't exactly take the news well, it made me feel like I didn't deserve this happiness, but with Harrison having not left my side since he came back from L.A, I eventually forgot all about what Micah said.
"Are you nervous?" Harrison asked, his hand clasped tightly in mine as he locked the car.
I was absolutely faint with nerves, Harrison on the other hand was more excited, almost jumping off the walls with how badly he couldn't wait to show me off to his family- who were already like family to me, just to make it all official.
"A little." I said, cringing at how my stomach was churning the closer we got to the front door.
My hands were sweating, and my shoes felt tight, this dress was choking me and Harrison's scent was making me faint, I was beyond nervous, but I was also super excited.
The door opens before Harrison got a chance to knock, and there was Gabby, wide arms and knocking Harrison out of the way as she wrapped me up in her arms, her lips pressed to the side of my cheek.
"Oh my god, I'm so happy!" She sobbed, making me stand there confused looking at Harrison, where he shrugs.
"I knew it, you know, I always did, ever since you two were in school, I knew this day would finally come!" She pulled back, her hands resting on my shoulder.
"Mom..." Harrison sighed, yet with a smile on his face, watching his mom obsess over me.
This was weird. "I take it you.. already know?" I asked, laughing when her face brightened up more, if that was possible.
"OH of course, the ring on your finger was a dead giveaway Charly, and coming here holding hands, why I'm surprised I didn't run out sooner and break down in excitement!" She fanned her face, pulling her tears back.
I laughed and looked at Harrison as he rolled his eyes at her sudden dramatics. "How about we go in mom." He suggested, to which Gabby came back to her senses and moved aside.
"Of course, your mom's in the living room Charl, your dad's also in there eating all the sandwiches." She said with a smile, then a frown as she brought up sandwiches.
Taking off our shoes, Gabby closed the door and that's when I heard my moms voice call for me.
"Charlotte, that you?"
Holding back my groan, Harrison lightly pushes me forward as he walks behind me, with Gabby in tow. "Yeah, it's me." I call out, feeling nervous once again.
I was dressed up, as was Harrison, this was suppose to be a casual brunch and that's how I got my mom to come, it was the perfect setting with both of our parents here, just family, whom we wanted to tell first before the word got out more... publicly.
I saw my mom snacking on a cheese plate as we entered the room, dressed in a floral shirt and beige chinos, and to Gabby's truth, Robbie was eating away at the finger sandwiches, dressed in his Sunday's best clothes.
"Oh, look who finally decided to show up." Robbie said, once he saw us, only becoming speechless when he looked down at our hands. "Is that what I think it is?"
Unaware, my mom turns around and looks at us. "About time Charlotte, you always were-" She paused, mimicking Robbie as her eyes zero in our my engagement ring, largely noticeable on my finger.
