Riley

If it weren't that I would get my butt kicked, I would go myself to show those guys who beat Skyler up who's boss.

Look at me.

Trying to act all tough.

At least Skyler chose me over his reputation.

When I suggested breaking up I could see the alarm on his face immediately and it was a sort of comfort to know he cared.

After he walked me home he promised to stay on the main road so he's not alone.

I'm still worried though.

The football guys have a lot of nerve and it wouldn't surprise me if they still messed with him.

No matter.

They call me the girly redneck for a reason right?

I'm supposed to show up on my tractor and run them all over with it.

The weird thing is I would enjoy it.

I twirled around in my desk chair and stopped facing the window.

The door to the house across the street swung open.

What I saw caused my heart to leap out of my chest.

The vice captain waltzed out of the door with a red plastic cup in his hand.

Blinded by rage I jumped up and marched outside

He was turned, facing the house he'd just walked out of and didn't see me coming.

At first I was going to yank him around to face me but something inside me switched.

Instead, I tapped his shoulder gently.

When he turned I fluttered my eyelashes.

"Hey what's up Riley. Ready to ditch Skyler for me yet?"

My anger almost slipped but I had to keep up this little show.

"I heard what you did to him."

"Yeah, all players gotta get the sense knocked into 'em' sometimes. Are you gonna join the cheer team yet?"

"No."

His eyes lingered around my mid section before reaching out to touch me.

I lashed out and punched him squarely in the nose.

Instead of faltering back in pain he looked down and wiped his nose before grabbing me by one of the belt loops in my jeans.

Pulling me toward him with a sickening strength he landed a hard kiss before he let me go.

Stepping away from him and being half paralyzed at the same time, I tripped and fell backward on my ass.

He stood there looking down at me with a smirk.

"My nose will certainly remember you. But now you have something in return. Remember that when you go running back to your little boyfriend tomorrow."

He reached out a hand to help me up and I couldn't help but flinch.

He laughed as I slapped his hand away and stood up myself.

"I find it funny that you're afraid." He said turning and walking to his car.

Then he turned the key and drove away down the street.

Stunned, I stood alone on the lawn for a few seconds before walking back home.

This was something I plan not to tell Skyler.
