It was getting late and I could tell Wilbur was getting ready to leave. When I saw Wilbur standing by my door something felt very wrong, "Wait," I took his sleeve and immediately felt embarrassed. He stared at me almost intensely and I felt the hairs on my neck stand up, "Could you," I began shuffling in place.
"Yes?" he chuckled softly
"Could you stay?" I mumbled and stared at the floor. I waited for him to say no but then his hand brushed my cheek, making me gaze at him.
"Of course my dear," he kissed my forehead and my face burned up, "Your face is really hot!" He brushed my bangs back and looked at me with concern. His eyes were soft and his lips slightly parted, Wilbur always looked so perfect. I kissed him softly catching him by surprise, but he quickly kissed me back. Wilbur hugged me and when we separated it was only for him to kiss my head, "So what's for dinner?" I giggled
"I have some ramens," I shrugged. Wilbur beelined to my kitchen and began cooking them, I sat on the counter watching. As Wilbur stared intently at the water beginning to boil I couldn't help but admire him. I knew I wanted to be with him, he makes rooms better and makes me feel like I can love.
"Are you sure you can lock up?" Karl rested against the door giving me an unimpressed look
"I've had to close whenever you decide to run off and have your 'gay panics'." He teased tapping my nose.
"I know, I know, just thank you." I smiled and he returned it
"Now go be with Wilbur and tell me everything!" I nodded and waved goodbye as I walked off. It had been a year since I felt the blistering winter air on my cheeks, it was almost refreshing. I gazed at all the store windows and smiled when I saw a familiar brunette in a window. My familiar brunette, I giggled to myself. I walked in and Wilbur immediately greeted me, "George! How is my favorite person?" He hugged me and kissed my temple
"I'm cold," I whined. Wilbur chuckled and took my hand.
"Let's go upstairs then," I helped him close up and once in his living room I collapsed on his couch.
"Your house is so warm!" I exclaimed and I heard him laugh from the kitchen.
"Thank you sweetheart," he handed me a mug of hot chocolate
"Wilbur," I tapped against the mug
"Hm?" he asked blowing off the steam and taking a sip
"I love you," I giggled as Wilbur spat his drink out
"You-" He stared at me awestruck, "Say that again!" He scooted closer to me with this dorky smile that made me giggle
"I love you!" I covered my own smile and Wilbur pulled my hands back
"I love you too!" Wilbur smiled so genuinely and kissed me so softly. He hugged me close and we stayed on the couch for a while cuddling. Every so often he'd ask me to say it and everytime he would repeat it and kiss me all over. Before I could fully take in the warmth of Wilbur and the joy of his affection I got a text. He helped me get my phone and we both stared at the text I got.
