I do not like to be awkward. Or unconfident. I think it's very un-Jamesish. But that's exactly how Lily Evans makes me feel.
I've always liked Lily Evans. She's got nice red hair and nice green eyes but she's annoying. Lily isn't usually too bad but she's so nice to Snivellus the slime ball. When I rushed to sit next Lily for our O.W.L.S, Snivellus was already sitting next to her. Slimy old git.
I was in the library last night, looking for books about how to get girls with Sirius. Madam Pince was eyeing us suspiciously, probably because we looked very un-Marauderish.
"Oi James, I've got something!" Sirius called from the other side of a giant bookshelf.
Padfoot came running up to me with heart-shaped book with a baby blue cover which said Wizards Guide To Witches on it. I flipped through the pages of the book where pictures of people on dates seemed to be enjoying themselves.
"This'll be good enough for tonight Sirius," I told Padfoot and we walked up to the front desk where Madam Pince seemed to be writing something down.
"Um, Madam Pince," I said quietly.
"What is it Potter?" Madam Pince croaked.
"I've er, I've got a book," I mumbled and I passed Wizards Guide To Witches to her but then froze.
Sirius and I were borrowing a guide to girls in front of Madam Pince. What would she think? How would Padfoot and I look? I turned to Sirius and he too seemed to be aware of the issue.
"Potter, give me the book you're borrowing our head back to your dormitories," Madam Pince said. She looked slightly irritated now.
I quickly passed the book to her. Sirius looked quite shocked to see the choice I made but Lily was more important than Madam Pince looking at me strangely.
"Wizard Guide To Witches eh?" Madam Pince asked with a smirk.
I felt my cheeks blush as I stared quietly at my shoes. At the corner of my eye, I could see that Padfoot looked quite amused.
As soon as Madam Pince finished signing it in, I snatched the book and ran back to the Gryffindor Tower.
Sirius was cackling madly behind me.
