Potions and Plans

It had been three days since I'd so called "dated" Naira but we had already done about a million things together. Walks by the Great Lake, eating lunch together, revising for our NEWTs and OWLs. The whole dating thing seemed so un-Severus of me that even I thought something must be off.

Later that day, Slughorn pulled me out of Herbology class, grasping by shoulders so tightly I was sure that the bones in my arms were sure to pop out any second.

"Severus, my boy. Sev, Sev, Severus Snapey, the smartest potions student of his age," the Professor began, a forced smile twitching on the corner of his mouth. "You see Severus, later today, Professor McGonagall has decided to show some 5th years in her class how very different transformations between potions an her subject are completely unlike. But you see Severus my boy, I have several important errands to attend to. And so, may I request that you take my place at showing off your Polyjuice Potion. The others in your Potions class will be there too, so think of it sort of as a joined lesson. So, do we have a deal?"

This of course, was very odd to begin with. Why on earth would Slughorn ask me to take his place, even if I was practically a Potions Master myself. Slughorn was a professor, a position which took him years of studying to achieve. Was that even legal? But there was also another question tugging my cape.

"Why are you asking me to do this? Why didn't you ask..." my voice drifted off. I couldn't say her name. I felt choked up.

Lily.

With all of this action happening with Naira, I hadn't stopped to think about Lily. Sweet, kind, Lily. But then I felt a sudden tinge of anger. Slowly but surely, she was drifting towards that rebel, that gangster, that thug, James.

"Lily?" Slughorn asked. I snapped out of my fateful trance and blinked twice.

"Oh well, I honestly don't know what's gotten into her. She's always been more than interested with her studies but lately, she's been running off with the Gryffindor flower boys. Of course, she still has her place on shelf but if she goes on like this, her picture frame may have to go," Slughorn sighed.

An idea flickered in my head at once. If Lily was making a move on, then so should I! I had Naira after all and she was certain to spark up envy with her dangerous blue eyes. If I was showing my Polyjuice Potion off to the seventh and fifth years, there wasn't a better time to announce Naira as my partner.

Yes, it was all coming together perfectly in my mind. Just a few more steps and I could ruin not only Lily but the Marauders in one strike.

Oh just you ghastly Gryffindors wait, I chuckled to myself. This time, it was not just the House Cup that the Slytherins would win.
