Back in my dorm, Sirius and I flipped through the pages of the pastel blue book, taking notes of things we thought were useful.

Every now and then, Peter, Remus or Frank would look at what we were reading and shook their heads.

"You're not going to get Lily by following instructions from a book. She's a person, not a cake," Frank mumbled as he walked past my bed.

"I'm going to get her Longbottom whether you like it or not," I snapped looking up from the heart-shaped book.

It was soon late at night. Remus, Peter and Frank were already sleeping.

"Ooh James, how 'bout that one?" Padfoot asked pointing at a little diagram at the side of a page.

I suddenly felt uneasy. Frank was right- I couldn't copy instructions from a little heart shaped book. And I was after Lily Evans wasn't I? A pink frilly card wouldn't catch her eye. I had to get her the hard way.

"Maybe not Padfoot. I feel kind of tired now, we'll read more tomorrow," I told Sirius and he climbed back into his bed.

Early next morning, I crawled out of bed and slipped on my robes. I was going to return the book back to where it came from. I walked quietly to the library and placed Wizards Guide To Witches on the return shelf and was about to head to the Great Hall when-

"BOO!" I jumped in surprise and saw Peeves the poltergeist circling around my head.

"What's the Potty boy doing down in the old boring library so early?" Peeves asked, "You little Potty boy used to be my favourite student, always causing mayhem with your friends. But now your in the library and I'm not so sure if you're so good any more," Peeves howled as he flew carelessly around me.

"I was just putting back a book Peeves. You have no business to stop me from doing so!" I snapped and I was about to leave the library when my heart stopped beating.

Peeves was holding onto Wizards Guide To Witches and tearing pages out of the book.

"Peeves! Oi Peeves stop, you're going to get me in trouble!" I shouted but I must've shouted too loud because the next moment Madam Pince came running into the library shouting at me and throwing books at Peeves.

Peeves howled with laughter and flew down to the Great Hall, pages of Wizards Guide To Witches flying all over the room. Ignoring Madam Pince who was still yelling at me, I ran after Peeves.

Sleepy looking students started to walk into the Great Hall and were surprised to see Peeves flying around the hall energetically. Several teachers were behind them now too, staring at Peeves who was still laughing like a lunatic.

I could hear Professor Sprout asking a Slytherin girl to summon the Bloody Baron and I noticed that nearly the whole school was in the Great Hall including Sirius and Lily.

It seemed like Peeves was louder than a Howler because the next moment, Professor Dumbledore was walking up to me and telling me to come with him to his office. I knew I was dead for sure...
