Chapter 12

We popped at Nicks house, but he wasn't home. I told Caleb to go to Kody and that is where we're at now, creeping in the back of her house. Inside Kody wore a big loose gray t-shirt and jeans, her hair was pulled into a messy bun. She had music blasting to Sia- elastic heart. I couldn't tell if she was dancing or cleaning. Or was it both?

I looked over to Caleb who was still tied up and had the gag in his mouth. I reached over to remove them but he stepped away from me. I frowned at him and reached again, but he still wouldn't let me touch him.

Don't! You won't be able to remove them and it'll only cause me pain.

I stopped and stood there looking at him.There had to be a way to get them off of him.

"Who can get them off of you," I asked him.

The one who put it on me, and only certain other people.

I wondered if I was part of that group, but I knew he wouldn't let me try. I let some distance form between us and looked back into the house. We couldn't go through the front. No one needed to see Caleb like this. They might try to be a hero and call the police or someone.

I snuck a peek at him again. He had to have been wherever he was for awhile. Before when I met him, he'd been sure of himself and now he looked almost timid. He held his chin up, now he was staring at the ground.

"Will Kody know how to get it off," I asked. He shook his head no. "Are you going to go in with me." He shook his head again.

Now it was starting to make me angry. He wouldn't even look at me and if he did there was only pain in his eyes.

"Jeez Louise, boy. Suck it up already. I don't know what they did to you and I won't try to see into your past to find out. But you need to quit mopping around like this. I don't know when you were taken or if you even met me. But here's what happened so far in less than half a week. My mom is dead, I just found out she was murdered. Then I get into it with that girl," I said pointing to Kody inside who was still dancing around. "Then I get my butt handed to me once again, by someone who despises me. And to top it off she has her goons rape me."

"No shut up and let me finish. There is no reason for you to be like this. If I can play like I'm okay and convince my own self that I'm going to be fine. You should be able to too. So stop looking like a pup who got snatched from its mommas boob!"

I'm sorry. We have met. I was there the first day you came here. I know how it feels to lose someone and be treated like shit. I just don't want to take my frustration out on you.

I rolled my eyes, walking over to him. He tried stepping away again, but I grabbed onto his arm. His arms were bound together by a thick gold rope, that was lace with prickly black shards. In his mouth was something that looked black as well with a gold cloth tied around it and his mouth.

I touched the rope and the shards elongated. By the was he tensed up it cut into his skin.

"Sorry," I said quickly, rubbing close to his wrists.

He relaxed a bit. Out of curiosity I lifted my hand by the knot that tied his gag. He twisted out of my grip, moving away from me.

Are you trying to kill me?

"No, I'm trying to help you. If you just be still maybe I could," I said irritably.

Thanks, but no thanks. It doesn't like half human whatever you are touching it.
