*Niall’s POV*

“Done!” I pant as I tie the last strand to the tree branch. I step back to admire my work when Lou finishes tying his last strand and climbs down to join me. The sun is just setting behind us.

“Good work mate!” he says “Go get her!” I smile and hop in my car. “Good luck and I’ll see you later!” he calls after me.

*Sam’s POV*

“Nialler, I love you to death but can you please tell me where we’re going?” I ask, trying to see past Niall’s hands that cover my eyes that were guiding me.

“Almost there, babe,” he giggles. “Turn and walk a few more steps forward.” I do as I’m told and am rewarded with him removing his hands. I gasp in amazement. Standing before me is my tree. No, not my tree. A beautiful tree that Niall adorned with white Christmas light strands, tied artfully to tree limbs and branches. Fireflies are coming out, their little yellow flashes lighting up Niall’s face. Niall runs to the trunk of the tree, and next to the gigantic tree, he looks tiny. He grabs his guitar and starts to play.

“I think you’re pretty without any makeup on,

I think you’re funny when you tell the punch line wrong.

I knew you got me when I let my walls come down, down.

Before you met me, I was alright but things were kinda heavy,

You brought me to life.

Now every February, You’ll be my valentine, valentine.

Let’s just talk, all through the night,

There’s no need to rush.

We can dance until we die.

You and I will be young forever” He takes a breath as if preparing himself before he continues.

“You make me feel like I’m livin a teenage dream, the way you turn me on.

I can’t sleep, let’s run away and don’t ever look back don’t ever.

I’m gonna get your heart racing if that’s what you need in this teenage dream tonight.

Let you rest your head on me if that’s what you need in this teenage dream tonight.

When you’re around me, life’s like a movie scene,

I wasn’t happy until you became my queen.

I finally found you, my missing puzzle piece, I’m complete.” I feel tears welling in my eyes as he continues. No one has ever done anything this special for me. He starts to walk slowly towards me as he finishes the song. Soon he’s so close that our lips are only inches apart.

“Let you put your head on me if that’s what you need in this teenage dream tonight, tonight.” He finishes and kisses me softly. I feel his hands snake around me as I move my hands to his hair. He smiles into the kiss, knowing I know how much he loves it when I play with his hair. I break the kiss and put my head on his chest and sway back and forth to the rhythm of his steady heartbeat. His hands move to my waist and we sway back and forth. (A/N just think of “Rhythm of Love” (by the Plain White T’s) playing in the background)

Soon the stars come out and we keep dancing. “Come on” Niall says, breaking the dance but keeping a firm hold of my hand. To my surprise, he leads me to the tree and starts to climb. I start to climb too but I fall behind because of the strands of lights in my usual places where I put my feet, in the crooks of the tree where the massive limbs meet the trunk. Finally, after what seems like hours of climbing and struggling, I reach the top. Niall reaches for my hand and I gratefully grab it. In one pull, he lifts me up onto the tree top, his huge muscles bulging and flexing. I gasp yet again when I’m pulled to the top. Millions, if not billions, of bright twinkling lights flicker around me and an occasional white streak of a comet.

“Wow!” I gasp. Niall smiles.

“I’m guessing there aren’t as many stars as where you are from,” he says.

“No,” I sigh “In New York, you’re lucky if you see one or two stars!”

“In Mullingar, there’s a bunch of stars. In the summer, Greg and I would go camping and we would see a bunch of stars and see the Big Dipper. And we would try to make new shapes.” He giggles “The most creative we made was a square!” I laugh. Soon he wraps his arm around me and starts to sing “I’m Yours” (By Jason Mraz) and “Wanted” (By Hunter Hayes). I felt my heart skip a beat and tears sweall in my eyes.

“I love you,” he whispers and we French kiss.

“I love you more,” I whisper.

I love you most,” he says and leans in. I watch as the sparks fly.
