*Sam's POV*
We all ordered pizza and decided to spend the day being lazy. I keep chewing on my cheek, nervously thinking of my promise to Niall. I know he would never let me go through with it.
"Well I think I need to be going soon," Simon starts but Niall runs hastily from the next room.
"Wait!" He says. He pauses to catch his breath. I see the lads give him looks like he lost it "Can...I just show you something?"
"Well make it quick! The wife's making potatoes!" Simon says. Niall pauses.
"Are they stuffed or mashed?" he asks.
"Stuffed," Simon says.
"Gosh that sounds good...Save me one!" Niall says before looking at us. "Oh! I need to show you something!" He's about to pop the CD in the player when I stand up.
"I need to show you something first!" I stand up.
"No! I'll show you first!" Niall says, wanting me to see Simon's reaction when he hears me singing.
"Why don't you rock paper scissors?" Lou asks. We nod and each form a fist. We both throw rock. We try again. We both throw paper. Try again. We both throw paper.
"Wow they are the same!" Simon whispers quietly.
"TOLD YOU!" Lou shoots up from his chair and dances around the room singing, "TOLD YOU! I TOLD YOU! I TOLD YOU!"
"Sam why don't you show me first? I'm almost positive that Niall wants to show me the doughnuts in the break room," Simon chuckles.
"THERE'S DOUGHNUTS IN THE BREAK ROOM?!" Niall asks loudly.
"Yeah mate!" Liam says, spinning around on his chair "I'm surprised your superhuman nose didn't find it!"
"Oh it would!" Lou smirks looking at Niall "But it's too busy in Sam's-"
"LOUI!" We all shout cutting him off.
"It's the truth!" Lou says. Simon gives Loui a crazed look before mumbling, "This is what I have to deal with."
"But you still love us!" Harry says, hugging him.
"So you were going to show me something?" Simon asks.
"Umm..." I draw a shaky breath and look at Niall "Yeah." I grab an empty red plastic cup we were using for soda and walk in the recording room. Plain red walls and oak floors, it's about the size of two bedrooms. I sit down, letting my legs slide out to the side. I clap twice before tapping the cup, then moving it, soon creating a steady beat. I nod my head in rhythm, losing myself to the beat. I repeat my steady pattern until I feel it's ready.
"I got my ticket for the long way 'round,
Two bottles whiskey for the way.
And I sure would like some sweet company.
And I'm leaving tomorrow what do you say?" I take a deep breath, keeping my eyes on the cup.
"When I'm gone, when I'm gone-one.
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone.
You're gonna miss me by my hair, you're gonna miss me everywhere, oh.
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone." I let the rhythm go before I draw a breath and continue. The more I sing, the easier it gets.
"I got my ticket for the long way 'round.
The one with the prettiest of views,
It's got mountains, it's got rivers, it's got sights to give you shivers,
But it sure would be prettier with you.
When I'm gone, when I'm gone-one,
You're gonna miss me by my walk,
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh,
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone." The last part reminded me of Jack. The trails we rode together. The mountains we climbed, the rivers we crossed, the forests we trekked through. I let the cup land and take a deep breath. I did it. I conquered my fear. The moment I awaited for years. The next thing I know, I'm scooped in Niall's strong arms. I feel his arms grab around my waist and lift me up in the air, spinning me around. His laugh fills my ears.
"Oh my god! Sam that was amazing! You did that with a cup?" He asks, setting me down. I nod. I hear the lads come in, whooping and screaming how fantastic I was.
"Are you a wizard?" Lou asks "Because last I checked, cups weren't amazing instruments." I giggle. I see Simon walk out, a big grin plastered on his face.
"Sam, I've been in this business for a while and talent like yours doesn't come around every day," he says "how would you like to sign with me? I don't think I need to tell you about the albums, the concerts, the tours. You've seen enough with these lads I bet." I let out a squeal. "I'll take that as a yes then?" he chuckles.
"Yes!" I say as loudly as I dare and throw myself in Simon's arms, momentarily forgetting that he was a world famous producer. I hop down and apologize.
"Well I can't believe I'm saying this but I don't mind being late for dinner," Simon smiles. "Well I better get going! I'll see you tomorrow!" Simon says, walking out. Niall scoops me up and brings me outside to my tree. He doesn't need to say anything why he brought me here. The memories. Walking on tree branches, Niall decorating it with lights for a date, telling Niall he has learn to let go. A warm summer breeze shakes a few leaves from my tree.
"GROUP HUG!" Lou screams and I'm soon being squished by five of the hottest guys on the planet.
"Don't squish her!" Simon calls.
"No promises!" Niall shouts back and slams his lips onto mine.
"Aww..." Lou cooed.
"We're gonna be uncles!" Harry shouted and high fived Lou. I take in one final image before closing my eyes. Already sprouting tiny leaves the size of half my finger, the little sapling Niall and I planted from just a seed.
Aww... Sorry it gets me every time. First off, no I haven't been murdered or kidnapped by aliens. I just had a really busy week. And I was also working on my other fanfic I will be posting soon! But sadly, my updates will be slower because my dad tried to pay the WIFI bill by sending the WIFI company a $20 Starbucks gift card, $10 Dairy Queen gift card, an apology card, and, sadly, a few pictures of my mom. Yep I have an odd family. But for those who are still reading I say thanks and wow you must have a lot of free time to hear me ramble on about useless crud. But as always, keep reading fellow snowflakes!
