The little girl looks out the window
and all she can see
is the same old house
and the same old trees
She's never been allowed to venture out
beyond the reach of her grandma's hand
and she can't help but wonder
what lies beyond those walls
She's heard stories of a wide-open world
of places to explore and things to see
and she aches to experience them for herself
but her grandma is always there
telling her she's too young
and it's not safe
and she'll have to wait
for what seems like forever
The little girl can't help but dream
of the day when she'll be free
to venture out on her own
and see all the wonderful things
that are waiting for her
