Bonnie & Clyde-Once Upon A Time

EIGHT

7:15 A.M.

Bonnie was at Granny's Diner with Calvin in the morning before school. She just finished her coffee with the chocolate sprinkles when flowers arrived....for her. It was a bouquet of blue dahlias.

"Oh my god," Calvin gasped. "Did Aaron send you flowers?"

She breathed a bit heavily as she stared at them. Flowers. She'd never received flowers. She didn't know how to feel about it.

"Well, go on," Calvin encouraged. "Read the note."

Her movements were slow as she reached for the card that was attached. She read the neat lettering that was written.

Fine. Care for nothing, Bonnie. But know that I will always care for you.

Aaron.

"Kid, you got an admirer?" Emma asked. She had been sitting with Mary Margaret as they both watched with smirks.

"You know blue dahlias symbolize seizing the moment," Calvin commented.

She could hardly breathe. Everyone was talking around her, about her, and the care she didn't want. Always, he said. There was no such thing as always.

"There was no moment to seize," she grabbed the flowers before stomping to the trash and throwing them in there violently. Then she stared at the trash can like it would combust into the flames.

"Woah, what did those flowers do to you, kid?"

"Don't ask," she glared.

"Let's go, Calvin," she commanded before quickly leaving and he hurried after her with wide eyes.

Aaron found her after school while she was at her locker. He had a small, little hopeful smile. She didn't know why he had such hope; she couldn't bring herself to hope for anything at all.

"Did you get my flowers?"

"I hate blue," she refused to look at him as tears stung her eyes. She did love the flowers or, at least, the gesture of it but she couldn't afford to have feelings. She was too afraid of heartbreak, of the feeling she already had and how Aaron made it go away. What if he went away, too?

Aaron didn't let her cold exterior deter him as he smiled, "I can buy you a different color..."

"Stop," she turned to him this time with a tear falling down her cheek that she quickly wiped away. "Maybe...maybe I do have feelings but none of it matters."

"Why?"

She gained a dark look on her face, "Because everyone leaves."

And she walked away.

At night, she woke up screaming from her nightmares. Regina and Henry rushed in with wide eyes.

"Make it stop," Bonnie cried as she clutched her chest.
