DESPERATE SOULS
Bonnie had slept without any nightmares that night at the party. But she felt...weak about it. She didn't like that she could feel that at ease with someone. She didn't want anyone to solve her problems even though she desperately needed help.
She didn't want any.
It was why she avoided Aaron at any cost and those green eyes that seemed to capture her without rhyme or reason. She was convinced it was stupid how she felt about him; how could feelings be anything but a joke?
She didn't want them. It was why when they were at school and she saw Aaron down the hallway, she grabbed Calvin and pulled him with her into a empty classroom.
"Woah," Calvin was surprised as he got pulled like a rag doll by Bonnie into the room. "What are we doing?"
"I just need..." Bonnie breathed heavily. "I need..."
Bonnie couldn't seem to form words as she was paralyzed by fear. The great and terrible emotion that was fear. She had never been scared of anything but she felt it so deeply now and it was all because she was scared to hope and dream of possibilities.
"Bonnie," Calvin said carefully before he placed his hands on her shoulders. "It's okay. I got you."
For the first time in a long time, Bonnie hugged him. She clung to her best friend tightly.
"I got you, Bon," Calvin said so softly as he hugged her back. "Whatever it is."

The next day, she could not avoid Aaron. He'd managed to find her after school and she was left with no choice but to talk to him.
"Are you avoiding me?" Aaron smirked a bit at the idea.
"No. That would mean I care about your presence which I don't," Bonnie crossed her arms.
"Come on, Bonnie," Aaron sighed. "It's okay to care."
"I don't need anymore people to care about," Bonnie said spitefully as she went to leave. "Certainly, not you."
"Really?" Aaron called. "And have any one of them helped with the nightmares?"
Bonnie froze at the words. She turned her head back to him with a glare, "I don't need help. Just leave me alone."
She huffed before she quickly left his presence. She wasn't the type of person who needed help and she wouldn't become one today.
_____
Bonnie was fourteen and she had been training to use her magic with Rumplestiltskin for months now. She was practicing transformation magic and it seemed to be something she struggled with.
She focused on the shoe in front of her. She imagined that it would turn into a frog but she kept imagining Clyde. She wondered if she could transform something into him only to see him for just a moment; even if it wasn't real.
It caused her focus to wane and nothing happened to the shoe. She let out a small, angered scream before kicking it across the room.
