WHAT HAPPENED TO FREDERICK
After Valentine's Day, things had changed. The day of love had given her a heart of one. Something new to tie herself to with all these little foreign feelings that gave her goosebumps.
When the weekend ended and school started again, she was at her locker when she heard his voice. She turned her head to see Aaron in a blue sweater as he smiled softly and his eyes were bright as he swam in the memory of their own little secret, that kiss.
"Hey, princess."
Bonnie couldn't help the small smile that erupted on her face. She was invaded with butterflies in her stomach and joy in her chest. She felt alien, foreign and she quickly turned her gaze away from him as she responded defensively, "Don't look at me like that."
"Like what?"
"Like you've kissed me."
"But I have kissed you," Aaron chuckled before he became serious. "A memory I'll carry with me always if that will be the only one you'll give me to remember."
She couldn't help but smile before she closed her locker, "I'll think about it. But don't expect me to kiss you anytime soon."
"Alright," he agreed. "Can I at least hold your hand?"
She gave him a look like he was crazy for even suggesting it. He sighed before he asked very softly, "Allow me to hold your bag then."
She stared at him for a moment before she handed him her backpack, "I might as well get something out of this infatuation you have."
They started to walk towards class together as a sort of couple as Aaron carried her backpack for her and he promised, "One day, Bonnie, you'll be just as infatuated with me."
"Well, keep acting like my prince and maybe I will be," she teased but she truly wished for that to be so. It would be so easy to be infatuated, in love, with him; to live without an ache in her chest. That would be a dream.

One morning, she had breakfast with Mr. Gold at Granny's. She told him nothing of Aaron in fear that Gold might literally kill him. But then a bouquet of blue roses came that were from the boy that was becoming quite beloved in her heart of darkness.
"Who is sending you flowers?" Gold pointed with his fork as he practically glared at the flowers.
"It's, uh, nothing," Bonnie said quickly. "They're nothing."
Gold stared at her suspiciously before he commanded, "Who is it?"
"It's a boy from school," she sighed in embarrassment before she pleaded. "Please, don't kill him."
"Why would I do that?" he questioned. "I would never hurt you, dearie."
"Well, I know that but it doesn't mean you won't hurt someone else," she said in confusion; she didn't know why he brought that up.
