CHAPTER FIVE:
LITTLE GET TOGETHER
THE SUN WAS STILL bright outside, only a couple of minutes having gone by since the father, daughter and the man in the black suit had found out that Erik had stayed after Charles was able to convinced him to stay, not knowing if he'd actually stay or not.The bright yellow star still sat high up in the bright blue sky as it shined down on the many workers that were entering and exiting the facility the mutants were staying at, some wearing white science lab coats over their torsos and their arms.
Holding her father's hand tightly, Y/n was moving her legs up and down as she walked up the steps and further into the radar ball with Raven right behind her and Erik at the very back of the group. Charles opened up the door, lifting Y/n up and placing her on the floor at the top as he climbed the rest of the way.
Hank was already inside the room, greeting them with a small wave. In the middle of the ball they were currently all inside in, a headpiece could be seen connected to many wires, showing that Charles would be placing his head in the headpiece to find other mutants around the world.
"I call it Cerebro." Hank announces, making Charles chuckle. "As in the Spanish for 'brain'. Okay, so, the electrodes connect Charles to the transmitter on the roof. When he picks up a mutant, his brain sends a signal through a relay and then the co-ordinates of their location are printed out here."
"You designed this?" Raven asks, receiving a nod.
The young man found himself watching as she looked at the technology in awe. Seeing something moving beside him, Hank looks down to see Y/n had came up beside him, an excited giggle escaping her as she looks at all the tech, making him smile a bit. As that was happening, Charles had moved to stand on the platform while bringing his hands to grab the headpiece, placing it over his head to show that he was ready as he moved his hands behind his back, clasping them together.
Erik smirks teasingly. "What an adorable lab rat you make, Charles."
"Don't spoil this for me, Erik." Charles instructs.
Erik points at himself. "I've been a lab rat. I know one when I see one."
Hank moves to fix the headpiece a bit, leaning close to the older man. "Are you sure we can't shave your head?"
"Don't touch my hair." Charles demands.
Hank only nods as he moves back to the desk, pressing some buttons and turning some switches just when the headpiece was lighting up. A slight cry of surprise escaped Charles, his hands grabbing ahold of the rails in front of him as Y/n looked at him nervously, gripping Raven's hand. A smile was soon etching on the man's face, quiet laughter escaping him as Hank announced to all of them that it was working.
