"anakin, shanaya, this is my sister, sola."
"hello anakin, shanaya."
"hello." both jedi replied, shyly.
"and this is my mother." padme says.
"you're just in time for dinner, i hope you two are hungry."
"a little." anakin says, shyly. "he's being polite, we're starving." padme cuts off.
"Well, you're in the right place at the right time." padme's mother grins.
jobal, padme's father speaks up, "we're so glad you're safe. we were quite worried."
padme gives her father a dirty look.
"dear..."
"i know, but i had to say it." padme's father reasons. it was understandable why he said it, at least she had a father, a rotten part of shanaya thought. no, no.
she refused to let jealousy take control of her, again.
"well, it's the first time my sister brought her boyfriend home." sola says with excitement, but when she sees naya's face she comes to a realization, "unless he's shanaya's boyfriend." this surprises the brown girl. "huh?" "what? no, no of course not." anakin replies quickly, fear overcoming him. would padme misunderstand? shanaya could practically hear his thoughts, her face becomes cold.
she scoffs, "i'd rather turn to the dark side than ever even try to kiss him." now it was anakin's turn to hurt. "same goes for me." he snarls. the two glare at each other and continue eating. the rest of the family stay silent, the tension in between the jedi make them feel awkward.
"um-right. they're jedi assigned by the senate to protect me." pad-me says nervously, trying to ease the tension. sola gasps, "bodyguards? oh padme, they didn't tell us it was this serious!" "it's not! anakin's a friend, i've known him for years. remember that little boy who was with the jedi during the blockade crisis?" they nod, "well, he's grown up." she says wryly.
"honey, when are you going to settle down? haven't you had enough of that life? i certainly have!" padme's father argues, the worry for his daughter was clear. "i'm not in any danger." padme's mother looks to both the jedi, "is she?"
both anakin and shanaya share a look, "we're afraid she is, but do not worry. we will try our best to protect her." she gives ruwee a smile.
padme grumbles, "i didn't want them to worry."

shanaya hated this. she hated it all. she had heard sola's and padme's conversation and she hated how hurt she was. a jedi cannot hate. she reminded herself. oh who cared! she doesn't want to be a jedi, all the excitement of it had washed off. she wished she had never met anakin skywalker. never felt what she did for him. she wished she was on kyria with her siblings,

padme and sola are now alone in the room.
padme stares at her sister with exasperation.
"what?"
"why do you keep saying such things about me and anakin?"
"because it's obvious. you see it, you can't deny it."
padme sighs.
"i thought jedi weren't supposed to think such things. You think more like a jedi than he does and you shouldn't."
"what do you mean?"
"you're so tied up in your responsibilities that you don't give any weight to your desires." padme knew it was nothing more than desire, which is why she didn't want to do this.
"you don't know how I feel about anakin."
"and neither do you because you won't let yourself think about it. it's funny, you act as if you're prohibited and you're not, while anakin acts as if he's under no such prohibitions, and he is!" sola chuckles a bit.
"you're way ahead of everything! anakin and i have only been together for a few days, before that, i hadn't seen him in a decade!" sola shrugs and puts an arm around padme's shoulder. "i know how he feels. and so do you." Padme sighs and looks down at the floor, troubled. "but you don't. it's nothing more than admiration of some sort."
sola lifts her chin and makes padme face her. "it frightens you. what are you afraid of? are you afraid of his feelings, or of your own? or maybe you're afraid of shanaya's feelings for him?" sola pauses before continuing, "you're right, maybe i don't know how you feel."

the male jedi and the senator walked away from the water speeder and up to the terrace, meanwhile shanaya attempts to shut off the water speeder, but the key would not budge. the force sure is being a bitch. finally, the female jedi shuts off the speeder and walks up the stairs to fall upon two people kissing. naya froze, "what the kriff?" both senator and padawan look at her, fear flashed in padme's eyes and frustration in anakin's. naya was done with this shit.
this was her wake up call, anakin skywalker will never fall in love with shanaya kaur
it was old news that shanaya was being a total bitch to anakin skywalker(rightfully), but that didn't mean that a small part of her hoped that it would go back to the way it was before.
