RAEGANS POV

I wake up next to no one and I immediately smell something weird coming from downstairs and whithout thinking I rushed towards the kitchen completely forgetting about the fact that jacks parents didn't know I was there

"y/n what are you doing here?"

his mom questions and before I could say anything jack answers for me

"y/ns mom couldn't pick her up and isaiah had already driven off so I told her she could stay over, sorry for not telling you"

he's such a quick thinker

"it's okay, next time you should probably call isaiah or her parents first though alright?"

we both nod at her as she turns back to her cereal

"where's your dad?"

I regretted asking, it came out so wrong

"oh he's just at work"

I felt a bit relieved that they didn't take that in a bad way although looked pretty uncomfortable, maybe her was lying but whatever.

"wait what was that smell?"

"what smell?"

"I smelt something from upstairs, it was like lavender cigarettes or something"

"I think it's the neighbours, I tried to get rid of the smell but it just got worse"

"jack you can't cover up the smell of cigarettes with incense, close your window and turn your fan on if it bothers you that much"

his mother says bitterly and he just nods again. I stand there awkwardly, I had seen a pack of cigarettes on his mothers porch just before. I wonder if he didn't know or if he was covering for one of his parents

"jack did you wanna go down the road for breakfast?"

"yeah sure I'll just put shoes on"

"can you take your sister too!"

his mother yells out from the other room

"I can invite alano if you want, he's around elles age I think they'd get along well"

"yeah that'd be cool"

I go outside so I can call alano to see if he'd be able to meet us there

"raegan?"

I turn around still listening to my phone incase alano picks up

"elle and I will meet you in my car yeah?"

"mhm"

I reply as I hear the phone beep then I hear a staticky voice

"hello?"
