After dinner Eric leads us to what I can only assume as the dorms. There are so many hallways here that it would be easy to lose an enemy. Throughout this walk I could only think about ways I could use this place to my advantage.

"For those of you who don't know, my name is Eric and I'm one of the five leaders of the Dauntless. We take the initiation process very seriously here, so I volunteered to oversea most of your training," he says.

Ewww he is going to be seeing me training. One slip up and he will catch me.

"Some ground rules. Be at the training room by eight o'clock ever day. Training takes place from eight to six with a break for lunch. You are free to do whatever you like after six. You will also get some time off between each stage of initiation," Eric explains.

Perfect, he's just given me the time frames of when I can sneak to the control room.

"You are only permitted to leave the compound when accompanied by a Dauntless," he continues.

What he says after than doesn't stick in my mind. This is going to be troublesome if we can only leave accompanied by another Dauntless member. Zeke will be working or doing his own missions so that leaves Uriah and I to break the rules. Back at the Academy when we broke the rules they threw javelins at us. I remember there was one time that the person who threw it at me actually hit me. Apparently it was just above my ovaries and I didn't really sustain any damage to my body except for a loss of blood. Uriah and I have never gone near a javelin ever again. My mind comes into focus when rankings are being mentioned.

"Your ranking serves two purposes. The first is that it determines the order in which you will select a job after initiation. There are only a few desirable positions available," Eric explains.

Wait.. if rankings determine jobs then...

"The second purpose is that only the top ten initiates are made members," he finishes.

Crap! If Uriah and I aren't members than we can kiss this mission goodbye. This is do or die. Literally...

Eric's little speech cause outrage among the initiates.

"You chose us," he says. "Now we have to choose you."

And with that he leaves us to the dorm.

+++ page break ++++

It's been at least an hour since Eric left and most of the initiates have changed into a Dauntless attire and gone to bed. I'm "sleeping" in my Dauntless clothes, black pants and a fitting black t-shirt. You can just hear some of the initiates crying in their sleep.

"Alright Uriah, Tris, it's go time. Both your dorms are not that far away from each other so you will have to meet up, then await further instructions," Hill says.

I quietly get out of my bed being extremely careful not to wake the rest of the initiates. I grab my combat boots from the bottom of my bed and slip out the door into the dim hallway.

I lace my boots up and walk in the direction of Uriah's dorm. I see him walking towards me when I turn the corner and it gives me relief that it's a familiar face.

"Since when do you wear your hair out?" he asks when I get to him.

"Really? That's what you're thinking about?" I ask him sarcastically.

"Come here," he says pulling me into a hug. I hug him back tight. I think the both of us are just really really nervous about being here.

"Tris, Uriah. Zeke has just confirmed that he will be working the night shift at the control room, meet him there and give him both the flash drives," Hill instructs.

Uriah and I head over to the control room, staying close to the walls to avoid the cameras surrounding the place. When we get there Zeke is leaning on the wall casually just next to the door.

"Bout time," he says with a smirk.

He comes over to us and gives each of us a bear hug.

"Do you have it?" he asks.

I reach for the chain under my shirt and pull out the flash drive. I yank it off my neck and hand it to him, Uriah doing the same.

"You have your two tags as well as Tasha's and the flash drive all under your shirt... that is impressive.." Uriah says.

"Very funny, can we speed this up? I don't really want a running with Eric tonight," I say.

"Stay here I'll be right back," Zeke says going into the control room.

"What do you think we are going to find in there?" Uriah asks.

"I don't know. Maybe we can find out the Divergent hunters in the compound or maybe some communications with Erudite," I say to him.

We both stand outside the control room with our backs against the wall. I keep a sharp eye and an ear trained on the surroundings just incase Eric or some other Dauntless member comes out. We didn't even think of an excuse just incase we were caught.

Zee walks out of the control room with the two flash drives in his hand. He hands them both back to us and we immediately attach it back to our dog tags.

"This will have to happen for awhile. I can only transfer segments at a time or otherwise they will be on to us. I have a feeling that Erudite may be monitoring the control systems of Dauntless," Zeke informs.

"Alright. You kidlings should get to sleep, you have weapons training in the morning. Try to appear mediocre Tris," Zeke says with a smirk.

"That is going to be hard," I say to him.

"Just aim somewhere else or at something small if you are doing knife or gun training," he suggests.

I nod and Uriah and I head off to the dorms. We get to his dorm first and we stand outside the door.

"Good luck for tomorrow Tris," Uriah says giving me a hug.

"You too," I mumble into his chest.

I break away and head back to my dorm. I silently slip in. I quickly get into my bed and fall into a deep sleep.
