"Here you owe me," Uriah says handing me the flash drive.

Everyone has gone to the dorms and I met Uriah at the chasm so he could give me an update on how it went.

"Thanks, sorry I couldn't ditch them without them asking questions about everything," I say taking the flash drive and attaching it to my necklace.

"What tattoo did you get?" Uriah asks pointing at the bandage on my collar bone.

"3 ravens for my family," I say to him.

"Nice," he says.

"What did you find our from Zeke?" I ask him.

"Well he said that tomorrow we begin the fights, he said that Four and Lauren have been preparing the fighting draw so you are going to have to lose on purpose just not too much that you lose your pretty face," Uriah smirks while I playfully hit him.

"I'm serious Tris take it easy don't go full out and damage anything. It's so you can have a life afterwards," Uriah says.

"We both know it is hard to have a proper and normal life after graduation at the Academy and what they do to the girls as the graduation act," I say sadly.

"I don't actually know what happens to the girls. For the guys at initiation we get this pill and we have to take it before we go on any mission. It makes us fire blanks if we ever need to persuade someone using a bed," he says, "What happens to you?"

I sigh and take a deep breath. I swear no guy has ever known what happens to the girls at the Academy.

"When we graduate at the Academy, the girls are taken into a room with the head trainer. Then everyone is separated into individual rooms and then they partially sterilise us. They remove one side of our ovaries and leave the other one intact so that the chances of getting pregnant on a mission is reduced," I say with a shaky voice.

"T-they sterilise you?" Uriah stutters.

"All field operatives are sterilised so that the 'no strings attached' policy is easier on us," I say to him.

"Does that mean you can never have-"

"I can, but its just harder with only one part of my reproductive system intact. My mother was lucky she got my brother and I, so was your mum," I say to him.

"I'm sorry Tris, I never knew," he says pulling me into a hug.

"Its okay, I've learnt to live with it," I mumble into his shirt.

We stay there for awhile like that. Uriah might be the first Operations operative to know about the graduation ceremony for the female operatives. Brutal but necessary.

------the next morning---

I got back pretty late last night and I just immediately crashed into bed until I was awoken by Christina and my stomach grumbling. We filed into the training room where Four is with a board.

"Since there are an odd number of you, one of you won't be fighting today," says Four, stepping away from the board in the training room. He gives me a look. The space next to my name is blank.

The knot in my stomach unravels. A reprieve. At least I won't have to get beat today.

"This isn't good," says Christina, nudging me with her elbow. Her elbow prods one of my sore muscles-I have more sore muscles than not-sore muscles, this morning-and I wince. Wow I feel so out of shape.

"Ow."

"Sorry," she says. "But look. I'm up against the Tank."

"The Tank?" I find Christina's name on the board. Written next to it is "Molly."
