As the chapter title says, it has been a year and six months later, since I left my home and entered this New World. I have done many things, and killed so many Freaks.... and people.
What's left of the world call the dead Freaks, and yes there is some world left. The Freaks have taken over. A few settlements have been built and so far are still up. Here in Omaha, a big settlement rose up and took over the large stadium near downtown. They made a whole town there, it's pretty cool, but we'll get to that later.
Since the world ended, humans have stayed the same. The Freaks, however, have evolved into different mutated Freaks even more dangerous than the last. So far nine different breeds of Freaks have risen up. Basics and Runners are the most common type of Freaks you will see. Basics are the weakest, slowest, easy to kill. Runners, however; run... obviously. They run and are pretty fast, but other than that, pretty easy to kill.
So far in the two years since the world ended, I am the only person I know that has killed every type of Freak. I'm kinda famous.
"Hey, kid!" someone called out to me. I turned to see King waving me down.
"What's up, King?" I asked him.
King is a good man. I didn't recognize him when I first met him, but he was the guy that told me to go back home and hide when the outbreak started. He is this mountain of a man, with smooth umber skin and a shiny bald head like an egg. Dressed in a black puffy shirt, like a pirate.
King runs one of the four gangs here in Omaha. His group is called the Kings... I know, original, right? I never joined up with any of the gangs but I'm in good with all of them. He is also one of the council members of that settlement I was talking about. The Kings have a weird fashion sense... actually all of the gangs have one. The Kings, all of them, dress up in modernized regal clothes. The mix of puffy shirts and regal clothes makes them look like modern fancy pirates. I don't get it...
"Are you sure you wanna go to LA?" he said with a slightly dejected look.
"Yeah... I've always wanted to see the ocean, and who knows... maybe there are new types of mutt Freaks." I smiled at him.
"I understand." He smiled at me, a happy but also sad smile. "We will miss you, and you always have a home back at Eos."
"You don't need to worry about me." I pat his huge bicep. "I'll be back later, give a kiss from me to your husband." I walked backwards waving to him.
"You're coming back later" He asked me.
"Yeah, I'm thinking I'll leave tomorrow maybe, or until I settle some stuff." I shrugged.
"Phew, I'll tell Junior. Maybe he could stop crying for a second and I'll give him a kiss for you!" King yelled.
I walk out of the gate to Eos and head out into town. I strolled down the streets of downtown Omaha. Killing a few Basics, nothing more exciting. I looked into a few stores, but they were all picked clean.
I kinda tuned out while I was walking. When I snapped out of it, the sun was getting lower. I ended up in some random suburban neighborhood. I turned a corner and spotted a pretty big horde of Basics, probably some Runners in there too. I check the sun, and the sky started turning from fire to night.
"Damn... I don't want to kill you all at night. I like to see the aftermath." I blew out dejected.
Yeah, that's right, I can kill all of them. But it's getting dark, I don't particularly like the dark.
