Y/n had a lot more fun than expected riding the ilus. In fact, she had forgotten how enjoyable it was to spend time with others. She had heard much of the Sully children from Ronal and Tonowari, but it was nice to see them in person. Kiri wasn't the best at riding the ilu, but she did seem to be best friends with hers, preferring to swim next to it. After a while of peacefully swimming in the shallows, Kiri asked Y/n a question.
"Would you like to meet my family?" Kiri asked.
"They're not busy?" said Y/n tentatively.
"Either way, they'd love to meet you," Kiri reassured.
"Well... I suppose it wouldn't hurt," conceded Y/n, a small smile breaking through the stone mask that was her visage.
Kiri led Y/n to a common play area of the ocean. It had been a long time since Y/n had been in this part of the ocean, so Kiri made sure Y/n did not stray. Everything was even more beautiful than she had imagined; the giggling children, the cries of birds, even the little glowing fish that pooled around Y/n and Kiri's ankles while they were swimming. The pair arrived where Kiri's siblings were. Y/n and her ilu stopped. Kiri turned around. "Are you alright?" she sighed, expecting this reaction.
Y/n swallowed at stared at Kiri's siblings. They weren't alone, Lo'ak and Tuktirey were playing with Metkayina people. Y/n recognised Rotxo, Ao'nung, and Tsireya. The boys were playing some sort of team sport involving a ball. Tsireya and Tuktirey were making necklaces out of vines, seashells, and really anything else they could find. However, there was one more person, playing with the boys. He had dreadlocks, like Jake, but similarities stopped there. He was one of the Sky People.
His tan skin was adorned with blue marks, resemblant of the marks of Na'vi. He also wore a loincloth and some sort of mask. He was quite short, too. In comparison to Tuktirey, he was only slightly taller. Y/n thought this was very strange. Not only was a human with the Sea People, he acted like one as well. Y/n's face was unreadable, making Kiri distressed. "What's wrong?" she asked.
"You did not tell me you brought a Sky Person with you," Y/n said through gritted teeth. Her casual air that Kiri had brought out was instantly gone.
"That's Spider, he's nice, he's not like the others! My clan raised him since he was a child," Kiri explained.
"I find it hard to believe my- your people would raise him," said Y/n.
"The Sky People raised him for a while, but then we took over," Kiri protested.
"I will not be seen with a filthy human. Look at him! He is tiny, skinny; the Tulkun will be afraid of him!" Y/n hissed.
Lo'ak and Ao'nung noticed Kiri and Y/n quarrel. They pointed and beckoned Tuktirey and Tsireya over. Y/n hissed, ears pointing back. "You see? They have noticed. I have no business with them anymore."
"Please, Y/n. I want to spend time with you, I know how you feel. Shutting yourself away isn't going to change anything-
"I am 'shutting myself out' as you say, to this 'Spider'. I will not be seen with him, I refuse it!" Y/n yelled.
"Y/n, Spider is my best friend. Trust me," Kiri begged.
Y/n's eyes narrowed. "If he is your best friend, then you are the last person I am likely to trust. You are naïve, like I was. Take it from me - the Sky People lead to nothing but destruction. It is not wise to 'hang out' with them."
"What about my dad? He was a Sky Person, and he is Toruk Makto! They are not all bad! My mother was one of the Sky People!" Kiri yelled back. It seemed Y/n had offended her.
"Maybe so, but they were both special cases. Look at Toruk Makto. Eywa deemed him worthy, he is no longer a Sky Person. He is Na'vi and we treat him as such. And your mother-
Y/n stopped talking. Kiri's eyes were wide. "How do you know about my mum?" she asked. Y/n's face was stern. "Your mother was a gift to this world. Eywa has blessed you to be able to call Grace Augustine your mother." Y/n turned and began to swim away on her ilu.
"How do you know her? Please, you have to tell me," Kiri begged, but Y/n was gone, somewhere far away under the water.
Tsireya and Tuktirey swam to Kiri. "Who was that?" Tuktirey asked. Kiri sighed. "I'm not really sure, myself." Tuktirey hugged Kiri. "Wanna see the necklace me and Tsireya made?" Kiri's face brightened up.
"Alright, Tuk."
