It was nearly eclipse. This time was when dinner was held. Although not looking forward to it, Y/n was exceptionally hungry and excited. It had been many years since she had eaten dinner with the clan. Begrudgingly, Y/n arrived at the beach. It was the main feasting area, where the coast was so wide, there was a large stretch of sand that remained untouched by the sea. Five long tables were prepared, the middle table slightly longer, with Tonowari and Ronal at the head.
On Tonowari's side of the table sat Jake Sully, followed by Lo'ak. The right side, next to Ronal, sat Neytiri, Tuk, and then Kiri. There were many free spaces at the tables, and while it was upsetting, no loss could diminish the sense of family nurtured by the clan. The warm glow of the burning torches and smell of grilled fish filled Y/n's mind, but she was still anxious. Ronal raised her hand, beckoning Y/n over.
Obediently, Y/n followed, and stood a small, but noticeable, distance from Ronal. The Tsahìk tilted her head at the empty seat beside Lo'ak. Y/n cringed, but followed her instructions and turned to Jake. "May I be seated, Toruk Makto?" Y/n asked. His eyebrows raised, flustered; Jake had not noticed Y/n. "Sure, sure, you can sit, yeah. I-I'm not Toruk Makto anymore, though," he muttered.
Y/n sat beside Lo'ak. While the silence eminating from Y/n was drowned out by the cheerful chatter of Metkayina folk, her presence was slightly unsettling to the Sullys. The events of that afternoon left a bitter aftertaste in both Y/n and Kiri's mouths.
"Ah!" Y/n gasped in terror, as her tail was pulled. Lo'ak grinned and Y/n sighed in disbelief. "It is rude to pull my tail."
"I know. You just looked so bummed out," he grinned.
"Lo'ak," Kiri scolded, rolling her eyes, "ignore him. He's always getting in trouble with Dad."
"Hell yeah he is," Jake said, staring sternly at Lo'ak.
"I wonder why," Y/n responded, taking another bite of fish. Tuktirey giggled.
"So..." Lo'ak started, eating a bit of his dinner, "how come you're here?"
Y/n paused. "Here? I do not understand your question."
Lo'ak and Kiri shared a look. "Y'know, with the Sea People. You're one of the forest, right? You look like my family," Lo'ak questioned. Neytiri glanced covertly at the children.
Y/n paused once more, slightly rattled by this enquiry. "Put it this way. The clan needed someone to blame, and I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I don't wish to speak of it, it brings back poor memories. I do not wish to be rude, either. I hope you might understand," Y/n sighed.
Lo'ak nodded, and continued eating. Y/n looked up at Tuk. The young girl gave her a big smile and pointed to her new necklace. Y/n returned her smile and tilted her head, as though to say: 'Very nice'.
