Klaus growled at Cass, his eyes bleeding into his hybrid yellow, “You are not taking my daughter from me.”
“And she is not a wand-wielding Witch. She's a Wiccan as I am, and her grandmother was,” Freya fiercely announced.
Cass was unimpressed. She turned to Hope and began questioning her, “Hope, I don't mean to frighten you, but have you ever done anything strange when you were scared or angry?”
Hope looked guiltily at her aunt, “Yes, I once was so scared for my dad's safety that I wished with all my heart that I could be there, and suddenly I appeared, but the odd thing was, no one could see me.”
Klaus wheeled around and stared at his daughter, “When was this?”
Hope explained when it happened. She told them she felt like a shield surrounded her, keeping other people from seeing her.
“How old were you?” Cass asked.
Hope looked hesitantly at her family, then at Cass, “Five.”
Hope's family stared at her in disbelief, but Cass only nodded, “You had a bout of accidental magic. It's widespread for children that age. I find it interesting that you apparated to your father.”
“What does that mean?” Hope asked.
“It's a form of Wizarding Travel, like teleporting. Many children accidentally apparate short distances under stressful circumstances, but for you to apparate so far and accurately tells me that you have a strong magical core.”
“What is a magical core,” Freya asked suspiciously.
The Wiccan's attitude didn't faze Cass. She smiled at Hope, “Wanding-Wielding witches and wizards do not get their magic from the Earth or their ancestors. Our magic comes from within. It's like an extra organ that stores our magic we can call upon whenever we need it. When you're a child, your magical core is developing, and you sometimes have bouts of accidental magic. But as you mature, so does your core. By the time you're eleven, your core is large enough to have fewer bouts of accidental magic. And that's when you should have received a letter from Ilvermorny inviting you to study at the school. The school will help you learn to control your magic. If you don't learn, you could hurt yourself or someone else,” Cass said and looked a Freya.
Elijah looked intrigued, “If she is a wand-wielding witch, then why did she not receive a letter from your school?”
Klaus agreed with his brother.
“You all may not have noticed a falcon hanging around your home. The falcon had Hope's Ilvermorny letter, but since no one took it from him, the falcon reasoned that Hope would be home-schooled.” Cass explained.
