So, I posted this first on my Tumblr and my Ao3.

My native language is Spanish so I wanna improve my writing skills in English if  you notice any mistakes, please let me know and I will correct them.

Steve had been reading all night the huge file on the history of S.H.I.E.L.D., and there was something that caught his attention since the first time you took him to the Triskelion. Maybe in those documents was the answer: why was the chosen symbol an spread eagle?

"Steve, didn't you sleep?" You asked as you descended the stairs.

"I slept for many years; the last thing I need right now is sleep," Steve answered.

"Still, did you spend all night reading?" I don't know what you're reading.

"I have a lot of doubts, so I decided to do some research." Steve did not take his eyes off the documents.

"If it's something related to technology, I can help you," you said; after all, that was one of your powers.

"No, I'm looking for an answer."

"If you tell me, I might know the answer."

"Why did you choose this symbol?" Steve questioned you, showing you the S.H.I.E.L.D. symbol.

You squinted your eyes; you had never wondered; and you didn't remember that they had explained it at the academy. You took the documents and began to review them. Through all the years, despite the variations, the only thing that was always the same was the eagle with spread wings.

"Well, I don't know, maybe they thought it was pretty or they saw a photograph or an eagle."

"Then there is no explanation."

"Well, I think it's because they liked it."

"Or maybe there's a poetic reason."

"Or we'll never know the truth, but what I do know is that I'm hungry and it's breakfast time."

"I made pancakes; I didn't burn the kitchen this time," Steve said, getting up to go serve breakfast.

*So, this word has different meanings, I checked in several dictionaries before writing this one -shot, and found at least 15 different meanings, of course, depending on the context you use the word.
