When Steve entered your office, something caught his attention: the calendar you had "hidden" in your desk drawer, which you had carelessly left open; you had been marking the days until his birthday. He moved it a little and discovered more papers. You were planning a surprise party for him; now it was his turn to pretend he never saw the papers.

Arriving at the house, Steve took a box he had hidden in the closet; it was some of the belongings he had been given after he woke up.

He pulled out a beautiful necklace; his mother used to wear it. He missed the birthdays his mother used to celebrate for him; he knew that every week she would save a little bit throughout the year so that they would have a cake that day.

He put the necklace away when he heard the door open; on your next birthday, she would give it to you.

"Doll, I wanted to talk to you about my birthday," Steve said. You looked up, trying not to get upset, and for a moment you feared he had found your plan. "A cake would be nice," he continued talking.

"A cake, of course," you murmured. Obviously, you hadn't forgotten; in fact, that morning you had gone to order it and pay for it. "How did you celebrate birthdays in your time? "you questioned, trying to distract him; you didn't want him to suspect your plans.

Steve began to tell you how they celebrated his birthdays in his childhood.
