May 7th 2016

Second performance was done, and only 5 were left and an extra day until they had to move to their new location. Maddie's mind was still at that woman from a day ago. She kept wracking her brain to find out.

"Oi, pass me another beer." Mason says, signalling at the cooler. Maddie grabbed an ice-cold can and threw it to the man.

"Next time get it yourself." The red-head says, her thick British accent rolling off her tongue. She was wearing a long-sleeve top, just like always, covering both them and the small butterfly tattoo, with a semi-colon for the body.

The waves crashed against the rocks, the sun setting slowly behind the water. It was the prettiest sight ever, one that Maddison hadn't seen in a while. Sunset's always made her feel at peace, for some particular weird reason. They made her feel like she was home. Like the sunset was her best friend at that moment.

Maybe it was because she grew up watching sunsets every day. She hated talking about her childhood, preferring to keep it locked away in a deep part of her brain. It was only about 7pm, since they had a midday show instead of an evening one, and so Maddison had plenty of time to do whatever she wanted to. She drank the last of her beer, threw it into a plastic bag they were using as a bin, and stood up, dusting any sand off of her.

"Hey, where you goin'?" Marie asked, causing everyone's attention to turn to her.

"Back to the room. Tired." She simply said, walking away and checking any notifications on her phone. There was only a few from Instagram, which she decided to check. She hadn't posted since the break up, so she was surprised she was still getting notifications.

@taylorswift liked your photo

What?

That's her.

My ex cheated on me with her.

Maddison clicked on the photo that the blonde liked, checking how long ago it was uploaded.

What the actual fuck?

Maddie, being curious at why this woman who hated her liked a photo from so long ago, decided to mess with the enemy.

She pressed follow, before turning off her phone and setting it into her pocket, heading to the hotel room.

Only minutes later, her phone buzzed in her pocket, with another notification.

@taylorswift followed you back

This caused the red-head even further confusion. Last time they spoke in person, it ended in a physical fight, having to be separated by Maddie's friend, Kelsi and Taylor's friend, Selena. It was a wonder that neither of them called the police.

The phone vibrated, and 'Mom' popped up on the screen.

Mom: Hey sweetie! I haven't heard from you in ages, hope you're okay :)

Me: hi mom! I miss you, but I'm great! I'm in california rn, heading somewhere else in a week.

Mom: That's great honey!

Me: how are u coping? is everything good without dad?

Mom: Yes Maddison, I'm doing better. Thanks for checking up on me :)

Me: of course, love u

Mom: Love you too 💗

When she reached her room, she actually decided she just wasn't tired anymore. She turned to her right, and began walking down the path, heading to the other side of the beach to where her friends were.

When she got there, she say that there was a small, rocky hill, which she climbed and set her phone down beside her on the flat stone. Staring at the sunset, the red-head noticed every single detail.

The little boat in the very distance.

The palm trees scattered across the resort.

The families.

The families.

There was a little girl, about 5 or 6, holding her dad's hand on her right and her mom's on her left. Tears pierced Maddie's eyes with envy. She wanted that to be her when she was younger.

She wanted to have a perfect childhood.

She didn't want to have all the physical and mental scars.

She wanted to be normal.

The tears grew into a hysterical sob, where Maddison was finding it hard to breathe. Desperately trying to control herself, she counted to 10 and took some deep breaths, enough to calm her to the point where she could breathe normally.

The moon was high in the sky, which was illuminated by millions of stars. Maddie was on her back, staring at the dark sky without a care in the world.

"Maddie!"

"Mads!"

She heard. Sitting up, she climbed down from the pile of rocks and looked around, noticing Kelsi run up to her.

"There you are! I was terrified, I thought you died or something." She said. She smelt heavily of cigarettes, and Maddie reached her hand out, indicating she wanted one.

Kelsi handed her one and lit it for her, taking one for herself as well. As they headed back to the hotel, Maddie couldn't help but feel a weird feeling of being watched, just like the one she felt in the morning.

Her head spun left and right, trying to look for anyone roaming the streets.

"Whatcha looking for?" Her friend asked, noticing Maddie's peculiar behaviour.

"Oh nothing. Just got goosebumps." Was the reply. They arrived at the rooms. Maddie dropped off Kelsi and headed to her own room, inserting the key card and jumping on the bed after taking off her shoes.

She still wasn't that tired, and considering no one would be looking for her anymore, she threw on some grey sweatpants, an oversized shirt and slipped her shoes back on, going over to the location Kelsi found her in.

But the thing is, a particular woman was watching her as she climbed onto the pile of cold rocks. A blonde  blue-eyed woman that Maddison had met before.

The one and only, Taylor Swift.

The same woman, who the red-heads ex cheated on her with.
