That night's show was a success - a massive one. With a standing ovation applauding in front of her, Maddie bowed, her dark-red hair half -up half-down. Glancing at the blonde sitting a few rows behind, the redhead ran backstage and changed into
a black, slinky dress, Marie sneaking a photo of the girl.

Minutes later the girl-group was ready, and they headed out to the area where they were previously performing at. Ordering a few drinks, Emma sat the girls a few tables away from Taylor, not realising her friend's enemy was only meters away.

Luckily, Maddie didn't realise this until much later in the evening. As Marie and Kelsi returned with their drinks, Maddison took her glass of red wine and placed it closer to her after taking a few sips.

"So, how's everyone's love life? Any hot men?" Marie asks, earning a glare from Maddie.

"Or women." She adds, earning a playful nod of approval from the redhead.

"Not yet, sadly. If only though, it's hard being lesbian at resorts because everyone's here with family, you know?" Maddie said, taking another sip of her alcoholic drink.

The group, forgetting the time, were on their fourth and fifth drinks well into midnight, giggling at the smallest reason. Taylor and Selena were intently watching the redhead, who had still not recognised the two friends, who moved a table closer to have a better view.

Taylor studied Maddie's face; the way she scrunched her nose up from laughter when Kelsi poked her in the side, the way her freckles covered her cheeks and nose, the light pink tint she had on her cheeks. All these little things about the short girl made butterflies form in her stomach, not going unnoticed by Selena.

"Why are you full-on blushing?" She asked the blonde, a smirk on her face.

"I'm not. Plus it's hot in here." Taylor said, making up the first excuse she could think of. The brunette, definetely knowing that her friend was lying, just left her be, staring at the redhead, who was now passionately telling a story of some sort.

Out of the group, Maddie got the most drunk, Kelsi, Marie and Emma only on their second drink. Kelsi being the amazing supportive bestie she was, decided that this was enough, and started packing up, taking Maddies leather jacket and draping it over her shoulders, hugging her from behind afterwards.

"Come on Mads, bed time." She whispered sweetly into Maddie's ear, causing her to squirm lightly.

"Nooo I'm not tired yet." The short girl slurred, visibly tired. Kelsi giggled and pulled her friend up, making the drunk performer whine, a pout forming on her face. Taylor almost burst out laughing at how cute the girl was when she was drunk, but knew it would attract unwanted attention.

Walking and stumbling to Maddies room, Kelsi unlocked the door and placed the redhead on the bed, making sure she changes and makes herself presentable to go to bed and not mess up the sheets with any stray makeup. After making sure that Maddie was completely knocked out, Kelsi snuck out of the room and left her best friend, awaiting the complaints she would receive in the morning.

Sure enough, Maddison woke up at 7 am with a horrible urge to throw up, to which she responded by running to the bathroom and kneeling by the toilet, her hair getting in the way every time she gagged.

Her phone rang out from inside her pocket, which she pulled out to see an unknown number. Thinking it couldn't possible be that important, she waited until the ringtone stopped and went to rinse her mouth and brush her teeth. Only minutes later the phone vibrated again.

This time, Maddie picked up, clearing her throat before answering.

Maddie: Hello?

Unknown: Good Morning, is this Maddison Davidson?

Maddie: Yes, it is indeed.

Unknown: My name is Tree Paine. I saw you at the performance in the California resort. I was wondering if you were interested being the lead dancer for a performance with my client? I cannot reveal who my client is just yet, but what I can say is that they are very popular and this would be an amazing opportunity.

Maddie: Wow uh-, I mean, yes of course. Woah, thank you so much.

Tree: Of course, you can save this number and I can contact you about plane flights and hotel stays? Everything will be paid for and we will of course pay you for your performance.

Maddie: Yes, sure, yeah.

Tree: We are planning to leave at around the end of the week, so if you have any plans just try to fit them in this week. Other than that I have nothing else to say.

Maddie: Yeah of course, thank you again.

Tree: Of course, my pleasure. Have a lovely day, and see you soon.

Maddie: You too, see you.

As soon as the dial tone was heard from the phone, Maddie squealed from excitement, her hangover nausea suddenly disappearing. She couldn't believe that she was offered such an opportunity. How did someone even notice her?

Changing into a tight, black long-sleeved shirt and some light grey sweatpants, throwing on her Converse, the red head brushed through her hair,  putting it into a claw clip and headed out of her room, grabbing her headphones on the way out.

She sat up on her small rock pile, putting in her AirPods and blasting her favorite songs by Girl In Red. Staring out at the sea, she didn't even notice the blonde watching her intently from a few hundred yards away. Taylor was confused at why Maddison never wore short sleeves, despite being in such a warm state.

Gazing at the redhead, Taylor once again studied the girl. The way her fingers tapped at the rock to the beat of the music from her headphones, the way she would have a small smile on her face when her favorite songs came on, how the red locks fell in front of her face when she leaned down to look at the phone.

Everything Maddison did was adorable. But Taylor knew she had to hate her.

Because Maddie hated her.
