"Oh my goddess! LOOK at that little wolf! Eden is STILL watching the warriors practice. Will she ever learn that girls can't be warriors?" Izzy says smugly to the girls in her posse as they pass Eden in the garden. The girls have a good laugh at Eden's expense because Eden is practicing the same moves as the warriors who are training in the woods just on the other side of the orphanage gardens.
Eden is used to being bullied in school. She has waist length light blonde hair, it's almost white AND it's straight and flat. She has pale blue eyes, and she's short and tinier than most lycans. Because of her size the other kids tell her she could NEVER be a warrior. They call her "little wolf," which is a VERY big insult to a lycan.
She has watched the warriors practice and train on the Greycrest Kingdom courtyard, adjacent to the orphanage, since she was a small child. Eden wants to be a warrior like them, and always sneaks away from whatever she is supposed to be doing to watch them.
"Leave my sister alone, ladies." Aiden says smugly as he comes smiling along and approaches Izzy and her friends making fun of his twin, Eden. The girls just swoon over his 6' 11" stance. Aiden has short blonde hair, but much deeper blue eyes, and every muscle on his bare chest is defined and outlined in his bronze toned skin.
Aiden seems to be Eden's protector and always jumps in to save the day. Aiden is pretty popular with the other kids, whereas Eden is a loner and doesn't have any friends.
"You don't need to keep saving me from those girls. I think you only do it to get attention anyway." Eden huffs at Aiden with her arms folded across her chest.
"Yeah, but until you start standing up for yourself I'll just have to keep on doing it." Aiden smirks as he puts his arm around Eden's shoulder, and they head back inside the school of the orphanage.
Aiden and Eden were sent to the orphanage at only 9 months old. Their mother had passed away, and had no mate or other family to take in the 2 children. The two kids grew up in the orphanage that was run by Headmistress Mrs. Winters and knowing nothing of their birth family.
On Eden and Aiden's 18th birthday, Mrs. Winters let Eden and Aiden help make cupcakes. The two wanted to make cupcakes for all the kids in the orphanage. Mrs. Winters looks on with concern at the twins while Eden licks the spoon and Aiden puts his whole head into the batter bowl as they playfully enjoy themselves.
"You'll both shift tonight for the first time, just be sure to do it out in the woods where you can't make any more of a mess!" Mrs. Winters says and they all laugh at how much batter is on Aiden's sticky face. She goes on to explain that shifting is a personal thing. Some lycans want their parents there when they shift. Others want to do it alone. The twins don't have parents. Only each other, and they both look at each other as if they are waiting for the other to speak first.
When the cupcakes are done and all the kids in the orphanage gather in the cafeteria to celebrate with them, Mrs. Winters wish Eden and Aiden well with their shift, and gives them each an overnight pack.
Before trekking into the woods, Aiden asks Eden to be there for him when he shifts. Eden says "We will do it together, brother." and she is prepared to shift alongside her twin.
