Beta Brady stood at the end of the hall and directed the lycan warriors to only send a dozen out to deal with the rogues. The rogue attacks had been small, and he needed the majority of his men to get some rest in case a real threat arose.
Brady knew Aiden was at the source of the attacks trying to get back to his sister. Unsure why Aiden wanted her so badly, he decided he would appeal to the King and see if King Jack would grant Aiden permission to come back.
Hours passed and the 12 warriors that were sent out hadn't come home yet. Brady was pacing the floor in the commons room of the packhouse. Eden couldn't sleep either knowing James was out there with them. James may not have claimed her yet, but she still felt the mate bond and it kept her awake.
Eden walked into the commons room where Brady was pacing. She tried not to startle him, but when he realized she was there, he stopped in his tracks. "You should be resting. Tomorrow will be another brutle day of training." He said insistently.
Eden just nodded her head and turned away sulking back to her room. She was about to go inside when the front doors of the packhouse opened and Eden heard James' lycan body fall inside. Brady ran to him and then echoed through the halls "Get a doctor!" Eden ran furiously to the 3rd floor where the packhouse doctor slept.
The Doctor threw on his robe and leapt down 3 flights of stairs like they were three giant steps. By the time Eden and Dr Rivers made it to James, he was naked and in his human form. He was beaten and sore and barely able to get up. Dr Rivers moved James to his room.
The commotion caused everyone to come out of their rooms to see what was happening. After James was carted off to his room, someone asked "Where's Gun?" And another asked "Where's Eric?" Slowly they began to realize that James was the only one who returned. Silence rang through the air.
The darkness that filled the courtyard was beginning to brighten from the rising sun. The warriors that were left standing there turned their attention to Beta Brady looking for answers. Brady hung his head and told them to prepare for training.
