"SAMI!" Adrian ran as fast as he could to Sami's room. It felt like a mile away. It felt like an age to get to his friend. "SAMI!"
"Adrian? What's happening?"
"Sami, you ok? You're not hurt are you?"
"No, I'm ok. Are you ok?"
"Yeah. You sure your ok?"
"Adrian, I'm fine. What was tha-" Another shot fired out. Adrian clung onto Sami, hiding his face in the crook of his neck. He clung onto Sami with a death grip. "SAMI!" Instinctively Sami wrapped his arms around Adrian. "Shhhhhhh, Adrian it's ok. It's ok. I'm here."
"I... I can't lose... can't lose you again."
"You won't, I'm here. I'm not anywhere. It's ok."
"Sami! Are you-" Randy and Dean ran in as Randy shouted that, while keeping and unsteady Dean on his feet, he really shouldn't have ran like that.
"We're ok. We're safe. You guys ok?"
"Yeah, we're fine. We just had to make sure you guys were ok too."
"Yep. We're ok, right A?"
"Yeah..." He replied, holding back the tears that were threatening to fall.
"You guys head to back to bed."
"You sure?"
"Yep. Adrian and I need to have a chat. See you guys in the morning... later."
"Ok, come on Dean." Randy and Dean left, leaving Sami and Adrian alone together, that's when Adrian finally burst into tears. He was so afraid that he was going to lose Sami all over again. All Sami could do was hold his friend while he let his emotions out.Twenty minutes had passed before Adrian had calmed down enough to manage to talk again.
"Heeey, feel a little better?"
"Yeah, t... thanks."
"What's going around in that head of yours?"
"I... I heard that gunshot. I thought he had hurt you again. It felt like..."
"I'm ok, I'm not hurt. It's ok."
"You are. You are... my mind, it just went back to then. I thought I was back there, back there on that beach. Sami...?"
"Yeah?"
"I was petrified. I was petrified of losing you. You was ok as you could be in that situation, then... then..."
"What? Adrian, talk to me. Don't keep it inside anymore. It's ok, share the burden that your carrying." Sami said softly as he rubbed Adrians arm gently.
"Are you sure?"
"Yep. I'm sure. This is what friends are for right?"
"I guess."
"No guessing. Come on. Talk to me."
"Ok... when you were in the ambulance... everything was ok as it could be until you... the worst thing that could have happened. Sami, it was horrible. I never wanted to see you like that. You..."
"I what? Adrian, you're scaring the shit out of me."
"You flat lined! Damn it Sami! You died! I thought you were gone. Gone and never coming back! I thought that was it. You were lying completely still. I couldn't do a damn thing to save you. All I could do was sit there and hope they could bring you back. I still have nightmares about it-"
"You've been having nightmares? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want to worry you. I thought they would go away."
"Adrian. You need to talk about this stuff ok? You can't keep it all inside, it'll tear you apart."
"I wanted to tell you but I don't know, I just couldn't. I was scared to tell anyone, I thought you'd all think I was weak or something."
"How could we think that? Adrian, you went through something all of us would hate to go through. We could never think you were weak. Have you told anyone else?"
"No. I couldn't. Sami, can I stay in here tonight? Just to make sure you're safe. I don't really want to be alone right now."
"Yeah you can. Come on, get under the covers."
"Thank you Sami."
"You're welcome."They laid close to each other, Adrian made sure he had a hand of Sami's in his own. He needed to make sure he was there and wasn't leaving.
"You can stay-" Sami was interrupted by a light snore from Adrian. "That didn't take long huh?" He whispered. "Stay as long as you need. I'm not going anywhere."It was now 9am. Sami had woke before Adrian who still held one of Sami's hands close to him. He looked down at Adrian, Sami let a small smile cross his face. That soon vanished when the events of hours before crept into his mind. Adrian was petrified, petrified of losing his best friend. He had almost lost him once, no way could he even almost lose him again, it was too much. Sami played a little with Adrians hair before he began to wake.
"Hey trouble."
"Sami..."
"Everythings ok."
"You are ok."
"Yep. All ok. No problems here. How about you? You good?"
"As good as I can be I guess."
"Come on. Let's get a smile on that face. Time to go downstairs. I'm hungry. You can cook us some eggs."
"Why do I have to cook the eggs all the time?"
"Because you cook them perfectly. I ruin them all the time."
"Fine... as long as you do something for me."
"What's that?"
"You stop messing with my hair. Grow your own."
"But yours is nice."
"Grow your own Rico."
"Rico? That was random. You haven't called me that for a while."
"I haven't?"
"Nope. That was cool."
"Good. Come on. Let's make you eggs."
"Yay!"
"Oh god. This could be a long day."
"For you maybe."
"Definitely for me."
"Piggyback downstairs?"
"Can't you walk?"
"Nope, I feel lazy today."
"Alright. Stand up on the bed. I'll come round to you."Adrian and Sami stood at the same time, as he said, Adrian went over to the over side of the bed. Sami instantly jumped on his back.
"To the kitchen!"
"Really Sami?"
"Yeah, it's all part of this."
"You're ass is crazy."
"That's why you love me."
"Who said I love you?"
"Me! Hop to it horsey!"
"You call me a horse one more time Sami, I'll kick your ass."
"How I'm on your back?"
"Clever, I'll drop you."
"Ouchy."
"You'll be ok. I won't kick that hard."
"But you can kick hard."
"I can. I'm a ninja."
"Geordie ninja."
"Yeah."
"Let's go geordie ninja! The kitchen awaits!"
"Here we go!"Adrian began to run. He quickly skipped down the stairs with Sami bopping up and down on his back. Sami was giggling like a little school girl. Hearing those giggles made Adrian smile and laugh a little. He had to admit that felt good. After what happened earlier on, this was awesome. It felt amazing. Smiling just felt so good. He had taken smiling for granted. He'd never felt so good.
Randy and Dean were already in the kitchen. Dean was sat on one of the stools, Randy insisted on making him breakfast. Dean wasn't 100% yet and after this mornings run around, he still wasn't to steady on his feet sometimes. He still almost walked into things so letting him loose cooking, hot objects, yeah that didn't seem like a good idea. Definitely not. Worst idea to go with.
"You still dizzy Dean?"
"A little but it will pass... well, that's what the doctors say..."
"Come on Dean, have some faith in the docs."
"Why? They're annoying."
"Well then, you and doctors have one thing in common then."
"Hey! Apologise."
"Sorry man. I was joking, to a point."
"I'm going to ignore you now."
"Fine, I'll have all this bacon."
"Randy..." Dean wined.
"You can have one piece."
"Two?"
"Fine two."At that moment Adrian came flying in the kitchen with Sami, both laughing hysterically. After a few minutes they both calmed down so they were able to talk.
"That was fun horsey Adrian." Adrian made a strange attempt at a horse neighing. "What on earth was that?"
"Me being a horse... stupid." He mimicked Ryback.
"You're not Ryback."
"Nope. I'm the little guy."
"Oh god."Randy and Dean just watched the pair go back and forth at each other. This was hilarious.
"You guys are in a better mood than earlier this morning." Adrians smile dropped instantly. He didn't want to be reminded of what happened. For a moment he grabbed Sami's hand, squeezing it tightly. He then walked away, his head dropped. His eyes glued to the floor.
"Adrian I-"
"It's ok Randy. I'll talk to him. It'll be ok." A gentle smile crossed Sami's face.
"Just tell him I'm sorry for bringing it up."
"I will. He'll be ok after I talk to him."
