Harry
Back in the hospital, less than a second after his earlier self hadn't left, Harry began to hyperventilate. He imagined all the torments he'd been put through, the pain he'd suffered, watching Cedric die, his parents die, being helpless to stop all the bad things in the world.
Faster and faster his breaths came, eyes wide and unseeing, the room seeming to get smaller around him even as the world felt like it were swallowing him up. A hive of frantic creatures scrambled around in his chest, desperate to get out, and as he saw his leg being broken over and over again by his uncle with a baseball bat, the terror and panic and desperation forced their way out.
Items tore themselves from the walls, the bedspread was shredded into unrecognizability, his pillow erupted in a gout of feathers, the door opened, and a person came in, but Harry's hollow eyes didn't see the person he was looking for, the one person who could take him out of that hell.
As he imagined the pain that racked through him, old memories brought back wounds long healed. Harry screamed as a gash opened right down to the bone in his thigh, as the word freak was branded into his back again and again. . . his head felt the blows of a frying pan and he began to get dizzy, the situation was beyond his control, the pain more than he could bear. . .
Harry couldn't even remember starting the panic attack himself, and as his limbs were bound to the bed, he screamed again, a long, endless, agonized cry of pain, the sound an animal makes as it endures pain, nearing the end.
The people above him were making noise, speaking loudly but gently, trying to soothe a wild horse, but something had broken loose in Harry, something dark that had been locked up inside his soul for years. Bottled away in a deep oubliette where he kept all his darkest thoughts, memories and desires.
Pain curdled through his system, but with it was a burst of power. The bed beneath him erupted in flames, burning to cinders, burning him, and the magic that had bound him released. Harry's body disintegrated into dust, every aspect of his former self vanishing.
