Two days later, I still hasn't spoken to Cove alone. It's been 'looks' thrown back and forth, but silence otherwise about our current situation.
I wasn't sure what we were to each other now. What exactly did he want from us? Is there an us? Do I even want an us?
Now, I was sitting on the small bench I have in front of my window, looking outside. I was lost deeply in my swirling thoughts.
So much so, that I was unaware of the footsteps behind me.
"Ri?" A female voice called out. Shit. There was only one person who called me Ri. She claimed it sounded badass.
"Lily!" I exclaimed as I turned around startled. "I didn't know you were coming over."
I smiled through the uncomfortable feeling that was twisting through my body. She knew. She had to have known with the way she looked at me and him.
"I...I've been meaning to talk to you." She began. "You know...about..." Her words trailed off, motioning for me to finish them for her.
I sighed and was still. She stared at me expectantly.
Of all people, Lily would keep this quiet. Right?
I sighed once more and nodded slowly.
Her expression slowly turned into a smirk and then an annoyingly huge grin. The came the squealing. "I knew it I knew it. I always knew it!"
I shook my head and grinned. "No you didn't, shut up." I chuckled at her.
"I totally did. Details, now!"
"Okay, okay!"
.........
She shook her head. "So I don't get it. Why didn't you say anything back to him?"
"Because we were called back downstairs and I was scared that maybe someone heard. So I rushed out." I frowned and took another sip of my mimosa. We decided to make this whole ordeal a girls night.
And tomorrow was my birthday so I deserve a girls night, right? Right.
"And you haven't talked to him since?!" She exclaimed.
I shook my head. "Haven't had a moment alone to."
She was quiet a minute. "You're brother is staying with whatever her face is tonight right?"
I nodded and cringed at the fact that my brother is screwing some slut right now. Gross.
"And that's because you're mom is working the night shift?" There was an obvious suggesting tone in her voice.
I nodded slowly this time. I was beginning to get it...no way.
"No Lily, no way."
She cut me off. "Yes! Text him right now to come over. Come on this is literally perfect. He's already made it thoroughly clear he likes you. You like him, you should tell him, stupid!"
I sighed and leaned back into my bed. "He's in college. He's my brothers best friend. He's a total player. How the fuck would this work out between us?" I ranted quietly, more to myself than to her.
She was silent.
I glanced over to her waiting a response.
She then smiled. "Secretly and sexily."
My eyes shot up to hers. "No fucking way Lily. You're skipping over the part where I said HE'S A PLAYER." I was scoffing out every word now. This is ridiculous.
