Corra's POV
I woke up with a splitting headache. I tried moving but I couldn't since both my hands and legs were tied. What pained me the most than the wound on my head was that my son too was tied just like me. Who would be so inhumane to tie up a little boy in such a manner.
I looked at him and to my surprise he was actually smiling. Marcus watched so many action movies and wrestling that he thought all this was a joke. However I thanked God that this horrible experience would somehow not affect him. But how did we even end up here? Who brought up here?
The last incident I remember was a strong hit on my head while I was in the bathroom. I felt a strong pain and suddenly everything turned dark.
" Well, well, well.. look who's looking desperate and vulnerable..."
" That's right Tunu, the all powerful and beautiful queen is now on her knees. I swear I could give up anything just to see this moment forever."
" This is where you belong bitch, on the ground. I did everything to have Steve but he never even noticed me.. but you hurt him but he still ran back into your arms. Look at Sharlette here.. he married her because of you and dumped her like a useless rug."
" Sharlette, Tunu.. " I was speechless. So they broke out of prison just to hurt me and my son? The rage in their eyes and the venom they spit showed me that they were here for serious business. Sharlette pulled out a gun and put it on Marcus' head.
"I badly wanted to be the one to give Steve an heir to all his wealth but nature had its way and instead I was pronounced barren. Awww.. look at this cute boy, a perfect copy of my husband, look at his smile, his innocent eyes... I am sure he would look exactly like Steve even when he grows up but that's if he escapes death."
Sharlette spoke while moving the gun towards Marcus. All my efforts to plead with them to spare my son and take me instead fell on deaf years. My cries kind of affected Marcus because he stopped smiling and instead started crying. I pitied his innocence because he was completely clueless of what was happening and only cried because he saw me crying.
I knew for sure that Steve would come to save us no matter what but I needed to buy time. I also had to think of a way incase Steve couldn't find us.
" You know it's such a pity that no matter what you do the only place that you will end up in, is prison. You are fugitives and fugitives you will remain.
I countered back despite their threats. I was grateful that Sharlette shifted his attention to me instead of my son. I ignored the gun placed on my neck and instead laughed at them.
"Life imprisonment was not enough, who knows maybe this time you will be executed. How about that? At the end of the day all your sacrifices would go down the drain."
" Shut up.. shoosh.." Tunu shouted and I could see my words affected her.
" Sharlette.. Sharlette.. look at you.. if there's one thing I know is that you and me never competed for Steve. I have always had his full attention from the very first time. Imagine I went there for a bet and I didn't even implement any of my plans. Everything just fell into place. We just connected. This bet was just means of how nature brought us together."
" One more word from you and I'll blow off your brains." Instead of keeping quite I kept taunting them. Although this helped me pass time, the situation worsened.
" You know what Sharlette, change of plan. I think we should not kill them, I have a great idea that would just suit this proud bitch."
" As long as you don't tell me to spare the kids life, am all ears. "
" Don't worry, kill the bastard but not this girl here. Rather I want us to burn her face with the acid and then let her go. She will have to live with the pain of loosing his son and with the most ugly face. I want to watch the acid scorch her beautiful face and even if we end up in prison then I will be the most happiest woman. She will spend her entire life hidding her face from the world."
" Why didn't you think of this plan all this time? We would have done this before going to prison.. she parades her beauty everywhere and I can't wait to look at her ugly face. Infact after this I'll surrender peaceful to the authorities."
Suddenly we had commotions from outside. I felt happy that finally Steve or the police were here to save me but suddenly everything became quite again. I listened for any sounds but there was none. Sharlette left Tunu in charge and went to check what was happening. Fees minutes passed by before we heard gunshots which were followed by painful screams. My heart skipped as several thoughts clouded my mind.
I looked up to an all scared Tunu and wondered what had happened to the tigress that she was. Before I could think of anything another gunshot was heard followed by very violent commotions and out of fear Tunu dropped the bottle containing the acid. The bottle spilled out it's content and fear spread down my whole body as I watched how savagely it scorched the floor. I imagined this being poured on my face and wondered if I would have survived. This was a deadly substance.
Tunu hurriedly left to go check on her friend and I thought this was the best option to escape from here. I tried breaking from the ropes but they were tied so strongly and I ended up spending a lot of time. Hardly had I finished releasing my son and I than Tunu showed up again. Her eyes showed a mixture of fury and fear in them. I knew for sure that the police had already found us and that's why she was scared. She pulled out the gun and pointed it at us with her hands shaking. I tried pleading but she wasn't taking any of it.
"Let's end this now. Steve and the police are already here and it's only a matter of time before they reach up here but before they arrive I will kill both of you and surrender to the police."
I tried pleading with her to spare us but Marcus made the situation even worse. Instead of being frightened he was smiling and giggling. He even raised his hands up as a sign of surrendering. Children's innocence is just unbelievable.
Time was passing and Steve had not arrived up here. I gave up and decided to say my last prayer as Tunu prepared to fire the bullets. I covered my son and coiled as I silently prayed for a miracle.
The door broke just in time and before Tunu could do anything. I don't know what happened and how Tunu ended up on the ground but the results of all this was bad. I opened my eyes when I heard screams and what I saw made me curse ever having eyes. Tunu had fallen straight into the same acid that was meant for me and now half her face was severely burnt beyond recognition. A second look at her would make you hate meat for the rest of your life.
An effort to perform first aid on her further worsened the situation and therefore they had to rush her to the hospital. The same trap that was set for me was the same that trapped the two friends. I didn't know of Sharlette's condition but thinking of how badly burnt Tunu was made me feel nauseous. The acid scorched her face badly that even after the wounds are healed she was going to remain with the scar for the rest of her prison life.
" This was the worst Christmas ever.. but thankfully we still have the new year." Steve said as we walked out of the hospital.
" Well, I am kinda used to this.. spending Christmas in the hospital." I answered stroking Marcus' hair. I looked up and thanked the heavens for my family and most especially for not only my prince charming but also my (and Marcus') knight in shining armor.
