"it's jarrin' that mans ends sport with cross country er' fuckin' time," ponk curses, walking casually alongside punz. "don't chat, kevin's a legend, but swear down he does this on purpose."

punz is trying his best to understand the shit that ponk says, and he'd like to think that he's improved a lot. unfortunately, he can't even rely on someone else to translate, since it is only the two of them when it comes to sport.

it was even worse when another one of the guys in their sports class, like jj or ethan, would join in and he would have no time to keep up with their conversations.

now, however, he knows that ponk is complaining about the fact that they always end their classes with a lap of the cross-country field. thought, realistically, it isn't that bad, since the two boys always just walk it together and chat instead of running like they're supposed to.

punz also knows that, amongst his complaining, ponk complimented their sports coach, so he decides to go off of that when he replies, "yeah, kevin's cool."

"til' man pulls the running shit," ponk mumbles, "swear he can chat to me if he does this again."

punz nods in feigned agreement, pretending that he understands.

"finna refuse, stay mad."

punz nods again, this time humming too, really trying to sell the idea that he comprehends even slightly. in hopes to encourage a conversation he'd better understand, punz asks, "so, how's your week been?"

ponk shrugs in response, answering, "dead, though one of the mandem got one of those electric scooters, which i dissed but shits actually fun, deadass," he says with a laugh.

punz laughs along.

"mans buzzed though 'cause my bitch is comin' down this week and imma get you man to link us real quick," ponk says, sounding weirdly happy.

punz, only getting half of what he said, just replies, "hm, that sounds fun."

"yeah, safe," the ravenette nods. "it's bait if we don't run now," he points out, gesturing to how close they are to the end of the field, and punz just hums in agreement before the pair pick up their pace along the final stretch as they make their way back towards the main sports field.

they don't talk any more as they speed up to a proper run, both boys focusing on breath control and posture and such, all the things they know coach will be observing when they make it back to the older man.

they were the last two to finish, always were, and they were certain that their coach knew that they always just walked, but he never questioned them on it, so they just kept at their routine.

the pair slow to more of a jog when they reach the ginger man, and he just says, "no, no, don't stop running now! i wanna see the pair of you picking up speed all the way back to the changing rooms!" they groan in mild annoyance, but comply anyway, putting more effort in.
