(NOTE: This chapter and the next one is in past tense, Gally is telling the story of what happened)

It's just another quiet day. I've been here a few months now. Me and Summer are together of course. Some other boys tried flirting with her when they came until they found out about me. I can have a short temper sometimes but really Summer brings out my soft, sweet side that I try not to let the other boys see. Summer is a little upset that she is still the only girl. Every month she says "Ooh, what if it's a girl?" And I play along saying "Maybe it is." but now she doesn't say it much anymore because she's kind of given up on that hope I guess. I understand why she's upset or annoyed that every boy tries to flirt with her because she's a girl. She went through this faze when she was so angry at the boys, she was going to cut her hair short like Newt's, wear boys clothes, and talk and walk like a boy. Basically she was going to try to become a boy. She tried wrapping her chest in bandages so you couldn't see she had breasts which she tried but it failed miserably. She then just wore really baggy hoodies so you couldn't see them. She was walking across the Glade with a knife in her hand, her hood pulled up (yep she borrowed one of Newt's) and obviously thought I didn't see her. I ran up to her, thinking she was going crazy and took the knife from her. "What are you doing?!" I shouted at her. "I...I couldn't find scissors!" She shouted back. My face showed confusion and then she explained she was going to cut her hair. I told her she was mad and took her to her room and calmed her down. She was crying a little but I made her promise that she wouldn't do it again.

Something terrible happened one day.

Summer and I had our day off. We was sitting on the bed together cuddled up, just talking and joking with each other. We was sat here for awhile when I said we could go and sit outside in the sun. We did, we sat down on the grass, our backs against the wall of a hut. Everything was calm and peaceful. I was watching the clear sky with the bright, orange sun. My eyes wondered down a little until I spotted something. A shadow, on the wall of the Maze. I saw a sheet of paper, shaped like an aeroplane, fly towards us. The wind carried it 7 meters or so to our right and Summer ran to get it. She was quickly walking back, her eyes rapidly scanning the page when she stopped 2 meters away. Her eyes darted up towards the shadow. "What is it? What does it say?" I asked. She quickly read it aloud, standing next to me now.

I'm sorry Summer, Gally.
I can't take it. Thank you for being my friends. You were like a brother and sister to me.
Goodbye.

"Newt." she whispered, the words barely escaped her mouth. She dropped the paper and ran towards the Maze. "Summer!" I shouted, running after her. We got to the maze entrance just as Newt let go.
