Chapter 3

Thursday came faster than I expected ,one minute I was at party the next I'm dressing up to write an admission test at my new school .
"Nimi, where's my charger?" , Femi busted into my room asking , "How am I supposed to know ,it's your charger for a reason " , I said trying to hide something under my pillow ,"you're very crazy, do you think I'm stupid, pass my charger now " , she stated simply, I hissed taking out her charger from under my pillow and handing it over to her almost as if I was expecting it the minute I gave her charger she raised her hands to hit me as I screamed running toward the door at that moment Dad stepped in and I jumped right behind him. " Daddy , Femi wants to kill me because I borrowed her charger ", I lied , Femi just stared at me with a shocked but amused look , " Daddy ,are you seriously going to believe her ", Femi said , "You know nimi never lies ", he said as me and Femi burst into a fit of laughter ."Seems like you don't know your daughter " , femi said as she left my room.
" So ,are you ready to leave ?", my dad asked , " yh, let me just get my bag and we'll leave " , I replied , "alright I'll meet you down stairs ", he said leaving my room, I took one more glance at my outfit in the mirror, it wasn't much just baggy Jeans and a white top with a "not so wide" opening at both sides of the top , I felt comfortable in it so I didn't think it'd be a problem .
" Femi , are you coming with us to the school ?", I asked as I got downstairs to the dining area, ,"uhm , no but I would join you guys later on , probably around 12 pm ", She said , "oh okay ", I said as I sat down to eat , we having one of mum's extravagant sandwiches with coleslaw and hot chocolate ,when I was done I stood up to take the dishes to the kitchen, but then mama , our housekeeper walked up to me to take the dishes from me , she does this everytime and I keep telling her that I'm not a child I can do these things on my own , I was still arguing with her and stating reasons why I can clean up after myself when mum walked in . " Madam ,are you planning to spend all day arguing with her, just give her the dishes it's her job ,while you get into the car , cause we running late ", mom said , I just signed in defeat and handed over the dishes to mama with my mind made up that I wasn't going to talk to her for 2 weeks cause she keeps treating me like a 4 year old , as I grabbed my bag from the chair and started making my way towards the door, mum stopped me , "and where do you think you're going dressed like that ", she said with a snap , I look down at my outfit trying to figure out what exactly was wrong with it and then she made a statement she should never had ,"why would you want to follow your parents out looking like a slut , Nimi , do you know how many people are looking up to us , why must you bring shame to me ", she said , I was about to talk back ,I opened my mouth but words weren't coming out, and then she crossed the line ," it's not like you even look sexy or appealing in this outfit, with all your fat rolls poking out at the sides", she said , oh my God, that was it , that was the last straw ,I was done listening to this woman I turned around and ran straight to my room , entered and slammed the door shut, went straight to the bathroom , stared at the mirror for about 2 seconds and that did it, I broke down, I was holding back a lot , yes , I'm insecure but always getting a reminder about my insecurities from my own mum was too much. I stayed in corner of my bathroom and literally cried my eyes out , until Femi and Dad walked in , "Nimi , dont cry , just ignore your mother "he said , as he bent down to hug me , I had already heard him talking to my mum a few minutes ago, telling her to watch the way she speaks to me, I hope she actually does listen to him , I hugged him back for about 2 minutes then I stood up to wash my face and I told him I'll meet him downstairs, he left but Femi stayed, " as much as I really want to laugh at you right now , I just can't ", she said as she hugged me , " dont listen to mum, okay, you know how she is " , she said as she pulled away and I just nodded, "so just go write your test and get back home , and I trust you as usual you'll ace the test" she said smiling and I just smiled back , when she left I picked up my phone from my bedside table and shoved it into my bag , and made my way downstairs.

"Oh my God ", was all I could say when I saw how large the school was , it was painted wine, gray and white ,had a beautiful scenery with well groomed flowers around it and cute wooden benches at various corners.
As I got out of the car , Dad told me to go with mum that he'll join us in a few minutes , I followed my mum into a huge building which was labelled "Administrative Block " , when we got in we were greeted by one of the security guards who led us to the admission office ,there we met Mrs Susan Raphael, she was the vice principal judging by the tag on her desk .
"Good day madam", she greeted my mum , "and you must be Nimi, right?", she said, "yes ma ", I answered , " alright let's get started , take this form ,fill it up and when you're done , go the next room there you would take your test , any questions? ", she said almost in one breath , "yes , when will the results to the test be released?", I asked , "oh good question, not too long, it'll be out 2 hours after the test ", she answered, "oh so it's today ", I thought .
After filling up the form , I went into the room and sat down for my test , about 2 minutes later, a tall dark young man stepped in , he introduced himself as Mr Raymond and handed over to me 2 papers and with that I started the test . Didn't take me an hour and I was done with the test , I submitted and left the room to join Dad and mum in the admission office, during the 2 hours of our wait I switched on my phone to call Femi and ask her what time she was going to get here, then a message popped up on my screen , it was from Chelsea, my only friend .
"Hey yellow, I got your message , so you're actually changing schools, I'll miss you so much , but don't worry I'll make sure I call everyday of the week and also greet all the handsome boys at your new school for me,call me when you get home, I love you ", this girl was something else and don't ask why she calls me yellow, it's a long story, I replied her and then proceeded to call Femi , who said she'd be here in two minutes .
Femi had gotten here just a few minutes before the results were out and I passed, as usual, no offense if that sounded obnoxious but it's the truth, I got 98 points out of 100 , my Dad was so proud it was literally written all over his face , after that I was given my uniform and other necessities and was told to resume with the new session in two weeks time .
