With the last minute help from Saitama and King, the giant centipede (Centichoro) was defeated without a trace of its' particles left in the air. It's as if he'd never existed. Everyone manage to escape to safety and gather at the hospital. While Silverfang and Bang carry everyone who was injured from the fight with Garou at the shed, I stay with the kid behind the last standing wall that Garou protected. The kid isn't trembling but I can feel his heart beating so hard under his clothes. "It'll be alright... everything will be alright...," I assure him but I've never been so unsure.
There are a lot of monsters and almost every hero is hurt. I've never experienced a moment where I may be reaching my limits but I do feel drained. My limbs feel so heavy and I only want to rest but even though I am resting, I can feel the monster bird's claws digging through Garou's back. My best assumption is that they're still in the air somewhere. It hurt so much...
As a healer hero, I'd never gone out to battle myself. I'd always been in the sidelines, healing other heroes but this time, through Garou, it's the first time I've ever felt so much physical pain. Random knockouts, Silverfangs' direct hits, an arrow striking through my body and Death Gatling's bullets--- it's certainly a miracle that he's still alive but if he takes any more blows, he might just die.
God--- if I find him, I'd take back that necklace from him, undo the spell I did and tie him down because it's as if he's being chased by death itself.
As we rested for a few minutes, Dotei came to our rescue. He jumped down from his robot and quickly ran to me with his face as pale as a ghost. "Sister!!" he calls out to me. I open my arms and portray an innocent smile "My cutest little brother~,"
He smacks my arms away from him and pulls me away from the other kid before examining my body through his scanner. "No wounds? But the system tells me that you're badly injured--- bleeding to death even!" his eyes look shocked but when our eyes met, his brain quickly understood. "No... don't tell me... you accidentally used Sensory Link (refer below) on him," he looks so shocked as if I just told him I'm pregnant. It's that shocking to him. "No!" I quickly deny "But I may have accidentally developed a spell similar to it," I say as I look away from him. Dotei huffs and puffs and his face grows red with rage. He raises his hands and wraps me in an embrace. "... I don't want you to be hurt... I became a hero in the first place to protect you.. how can I protect you now...," his breaths hitch through his mutterings as his small body hugs me tightly.
He's still a child but he's putting a lot of burdens onto his shoulders just because he's bestowed with so much intelligence. He's too mature for his age and as his only sister who's an adult... I feel like I've failed to protect his childhood...
"Dotei...,"
I place my hands on his small back--- I still remember the day he was born. I was 8. He was so small and so fragile. Then both of our parents died so I had to stop going to school to take care of him and our financial full-time. I was 13. Thankfully, I graduated primary school so I'm not as dumb as I look, and thankfully, Dotei has all the brains our house needs. With his brains and my powers, we balance each other... but maybe, that's not suitable for a child his age. He shouldn't put the burden of protecting both of us on himself. That's my responsibility and only mine.
"I'll be fine. I'm an adult so...," I gently caress his lightly dirtied cheek. "I can take care of us," I look warmly into his wet eyes. He needs to know that I can take care of us.
"Pfft---are you crying?" a chuckle slips between my lips. "You idiot! How can I not cry!?" Dotei punches me lightly on my arm. "Yea yea... now let's go to the hospital. We need to check if there are any heroes that needs our help and...," I glance at the other kid. "We should get this kid to safety," I tell Dotei. "Everyone has fled to other cities but according to new info, the monsters are at city Z so we shouldn't go that way for now. I'll contact your parents and send you to them," Dotei says to the kid. "Also---," Dotei looks at me, his expression is gravely serious. "Who did you linked yourself to?" he asks.
I purse my lips. "Just a guy named--- Garou,"
Suddenly, Isamu's phone rung. He exchanges conversations for a minute before the call ends. "I need to get back to HQ...," he says solemnly. "It's okay. I'll just stay at the hospital until this crisis ends," I say. "Let's get you to your family!" I say to the kid that Garou had protected.
