Summer, before my tenth grade year started, we decided to meet. It was already expected considering how we always met during that holiday.
The season made its presence felt during the day but when night time came, the air became chilly. I feel like it'll rain. I turned off my laptop, went to bed and covered myself with a thick blanket. It was so cozy that I almost fell asleep but a buzz from my phone prevented that from happening.
Kinuha ko ang cellphone na nakapatong sa bedside table to check the notification. Agad nag pop up ang isang message galing kay Zirren. Nakasaad ito sa group message na kinabibilangan namin ni Zirren, Tina, at ako.
From Zirren:
Hello.
From Tina:
Hiii.
Umupo ako para makapagtipa ng mensahe nang maayos. It's past 9 P.M. which means that my parents already turned off the WiFi. That is why we're messaging instead of chatting.
To Tina and Zirren:
Maayong gabii!! haha
Zirren texted us about wanting to meet each other. It's only been two weeks since summer. Most of the time, nandito lang ako sa bahay kasi hindi naman kami mahilig magbakasyon. May trabaho rin kasi si Dad.
From Tina:
Where? When? How?
To Tina and Zirren:
Who? Why? What?
From Zirren:
There's nothing certain yet so let's discuss about your five w's and one h lol
It took us almost twenty minutes to decide on things. Fortunately, palaging natutuloy ang mga plano namin. But I have yet to ask permission from my parents kaya bumaba ako. I just stayed at the stairs-- enough for me to see my parents on the couch, watching television.
"Mom," I called out.
Lumingon siya sa gawi ko. Pati na rin si Dad, which made me a bit conscious of what to say next.
"Yes, sweetie?"
"Can I go out with my friends this Thursday?"
Ibinalik ni Dad ang tingin sa TV ngunit alam kong nakikinig pa rin siya sa usapan dahil medyo nakakunot ang noo nito.
"Sinong kasama mo?" she asked with a stern voice. My parents are already acquainted with my friends which are obviously only Tina and Zirren but albeit knowing this, they'd always ask who I'm with; a primary reason of why it's hard for me to befriend just anyone. Because my parents pick people whom I can surround myself with.
"Sina Zirren at Tina. Doon lang naman kami sa malapit. Sa Jasper Beach." I explained.
Nagbigay siya ng isang sulyap kay Dad. Kahit kay Mom ako nanghihingi ng permiso, si Dad pa rin naman ang nagde-decide. Nang makita na tahimik ito ay saka lang nagsalita si Mom. Nakahinga naman ako nang maluwag.
"Okay. Go ahead. Pero umuwi kayo ng maaga."
Tumango ako at napangiti. Masaya akong bumalik sa kwarto at patalon na humiga sa kama. Excited na ako even though we still have five days before the said day. Minsan lang ako nakakalabas kasama sila 'no!
To Tina and Zirren:
Hey doggiesss I can go na!!
From Tina:
Yeyyy and I'm not a doggie :(( huhu
From Zirren:
She's a meow meow ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Ay oo nga pala. Tina isn't fond of dogs and clearly loves cats. Kaming dalawa naman ni Zirren ay mahilig sa aso. I actually asked my parents if I could have one pero hindi raw pwede because aside from the added expenses it'll make, magiging distraction lang daw ito sa akin. It'll make me happy though.
