The river that ran through the valley was a curiosity to those that inhabited the area.

It did not follow any natural contours in the landscape, opting to cut directly through the foothills and any other elevated landmasses. The river was also completely straight; There wasn't a single bend or slight curve to be seen for miles.

Some people speculated that one could stare down the river, and see the water run off the edge of the Earth. Those people were promptly exiled from their communities, citing immense stupidity. The new settlements these idiots formed never lasted long.

But perhaps the biggest curiosity of the river was what it was called: Puke Chute.

"Why Puke Chute?" You may be asking, "Why something so childish and vulgar?" You say, out loud or in your head, perhaps with an English accent.

Let us role-play for a moment.

You approach a resident of the valley.

You ask, "Why in God's name is this river called Puke Chute?"

"Reeeeeeek!" They reply, because they most likely aren't human.

However, in the odd chance that they are human, they'd probably say, "I don't know. It's always been called that."
