Several weeks later...
A continuous, loud ringing woke Jin up. He groaned and placed a pillow over his head. Then everything went silent. He snuggled his pillow close and resumed sleeping. Two seconds later, his phone blasted its ringing tone, making him curse silently. Darn! Can't this phone leave me alone? Slipping down his blanket a bit, he reached for his phone on his side. With a sleepy eye, he tapped the "Answer" button even without knowing who was calling.
"Hello?" he answered, his voice husky.
"Chef Jin?!! Im sorry to wake you up at this hour. Uhm, I know it is your day off, but..." A woman's voice is heard on the other line, nervous and stuttering.
"Lisa?", Jin cut her off. "What happened? This better be important. You're ruining my sleep." Jin is annoyed by the sudden call. He glanced at the wall clock. It's only a quarter before seven. It was a Sunday, and usually Jin takes a day off from work. Lisa, the new evening executive chef, filled in for him.
"Jinnie-ah, Mr. Kim was asking for you to come here at the hotel and prepare food for his visitors. They will be having a meeting at 9 a.m. today." Lisa's nervous voice said over the line.
"Didn't Mr. Kim know that it is my day off today?"
"He knows, Chef, but he keeps yelling at us and telling us to contact you." Jin could feel Lisa on the verge of tears.
Darn!
He was about to say something when he heard a gruff voice on the other line. "Is that Jin? Give me that fucking phone!" Taehyung's voice is heard, and it makes Jin flinch and crease his brow.
"Jin!", Taehyung's voice boomed on the other line. Jin's eyes widened when the CEO called him by his first name. He wondered if the other staff heard him and began to be confused. He was hoping that there would be no questions when he comes back to the hotel. He cleared his throat and answered his husband-boss in a professional tone.
"Mr. Kim! To what do I owe this early morning call?" Jin made his voice polite, even if he is annoyed with the way Taehyung addresses him.
"Get your ass down here, Chef! I have some foreign visitors and some colleagues coming over for a meeting. I want you to prepare meal for them." Taehyung's deep, cold, and annoying voice made him shiver.
"But, sir, you know it is my day off. Besides, I already made plans for this day, and I cannot cancel them. Why don't you ask Chef Lisa to prepare it for you? I'm sure she can manage to meet your expectations." Jin answered, emphasizing the word SIR so as not to create buzz among his staff.
He could hear Taehyung sigh in exasperation. Then he heard Taehyung telling all those present to go out of the kitchen while he figured out how to convince their executive chef to come. Then he heard Taehyung say, "Jin, listen carefully. Get here in 30 minutes and prepare the food. After this, I guarantee you I will allow you to spend time with Jaehyun every weekend. Just this once. I cannot not back off because my visitors informed me this morning that they wanted to come and have a meeting with me."
Jin held to his phone tightly as soon as he heard that Taehyung was allowing him to spend time with his son. "Tae, are you serious?" Jin's voice quivered.
"You heard it right, Jin. Get dressed and come here. I'll ask my driver to come pick you up if you find it hard to get transportation. Then you will have Jaehyun next weekend, how is that?" Taehyung's voice became soft.
"Oh, thank you! Thank you, Tae! Yes! I'll get dressed now. I'll come. I will see you."
"Ok, I'll wait for you, Jin." Then the call ended.
